SUV. U5 ; NOTES ON ARMS AND ARMOR THE METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART NOTES ON ARMS AND ARMOR BY BASHFORD DEAN CURATOR OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ARMS AND ARMOR NEW YORK M C M X V I I. / Z~ PREFACE the field of arms and armor The Metropohtan Museum IiN of Art has hitherto pubhshed four handbooks or cata- logues, viz. : Catalogue of the Loan Collection of Japan- ese Armor (Handbook No. 14), 1903, 71 pp., 14 figs. (Out of Print); Catalogue of European Arms and Armor (Hand- book No. 15), 1905, 215 pp., loi figs. (Out of Print); Catalogue of a Loan Collection of Arms and Armor, 19,1 i, 85 pp., pis. i-xlvii; Handbook of the Collection of Arms and Armor, including the William H. Riggs Donation. 1915. 161 pp., pis. i-lxv [Edition 1, January, Edition II, March]. Together with these appeared from time to time in the Museum Bulletin a series of notes upon various branches of the subject, mainly relating to accessions, but sometimes touching a wider field. Between 1905 and the present year, 19 16, about fifty contributions are recorded, nearly all from the pen of the curator, some brief, some extended. As they were widely scattered, it now seems well to bring them to- gether, with certain changes and additions in both text and figures, together with a hitherto unpublished article, for the use of those who are interested in armor and arms and in the activities of the Museum in this field. REVISED 021916 2016 CONCEALABLE BODY ARMOR WARBOOK 1 800.347.1200 SAFARILAND.COM/BODYARMOR ARMOR TECH Turning vast corners in the science of ballistic engineering, Safariland® armor solutions has made it a goal to constantly challenge our team of experts to deliver the lightest, most flexible, and most powerful ballistics in the industry. Our hybrid engineering combining Safariland® patented technologies along with often exclusive materials from the best suppliers in the industry enables us to deliver an entirely unique and unsurpassable product to our valued customers. THE SAFARILAND® ALLIANCE 2 800.347.1200 SAFARILAND.COM/BODYARMOR JUSTIN CONLEY SAVE 1724 | MT. ORAB POLICE DEPT. On January 3, 2010 Officer Conley arrested a man for DUI. After processing the suspect, and as the suspect had no criminal history, he released the man to his wife and intended to file charges. The suspect upon his release and return home retrieved a .357 magnum revolver and returned to the police station where he lay in wait outside the entrance. When Officer Conley exited the station to retrieve a power bar from his cruiser the assailant shot him in the back, 1.5 inches from the bottom edge of his body armor directly over his spine. The armor stopped the round and Officer Conley turned and returned fire while moving to cover. A running gunfight ensued and Officer Conley’s partner joined by returning fire from inside the station. Both officers hit the assailant with fatal shots. The surgeon told Officer Conley the round would more than likely have been fatal if it wasn’t for his body armor.

THE EVOLUTION OF MATERIALS IN ARMS AND ARMORS: MEDIEVAL ERA An Interactive Qualifying Project Report submitted to the Faculty of the WORCESTER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Degree of Bachelor of Science By Melissa K. Chung-Chuen-Yeung Cody Harrop Stanley Mui Brandon Pare Date: April 28, 2011 Submitted to: Professor Diana A. Lados Mr. Tom H. Thomsen Abstract During the medieval ages, the development of armor was ever-changing because of the constant need for better protection. This project is devoted to the evolution of armors during the medieval ages with respect to technology, warfare and different geographical locations. Our research was compiled and presented on a public website, hosted by WPI, for public access. We also made a simple piece of armor using medieval techniques. Page 2 of 122 Acknowledgements We would like to thank Fay Butler for his enormous contribution to our Interactive Qualifying Project. Without him, the realization of the shoulder guards would not have been possible. It was a great pleasure for our group to meet, learn and collaborate with him. Our group would also like to thank our IQP advisors, Professor Diana A. Lados and Mr. Tom H. Thomsen, for being wonderful advisors. They have provided us with great insights and recommendations throughout the duration of the whole project. We would also like to thank the staff of Higgins Armory Museum for the special visits of the museum and the time they have devoted to us. • Emperor's Mercy
A WARHAMMER 40,000 NOVEL EMPEROR’S MERCY Bastion Wars - 01 Henry Zou (An Undead Scan v1.0) 1 To my folks and Biffle. For letting me run wild. 2 It is the 41st millennium. For more than a hundred centuries the Emperor has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Earth. He is the master of mankind by the will of the gods, and master of a million worlds by the might of his inexhaustible armies. He is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with power from the Dark Age of Technology. He is the Carrion Lord of the Imperium for whom a thousand souls are sacrificed every day, so that he may never truly die. Yet even in his deathless state, the Emperor continues his eternal vigilance. Mighty battlefleets cross the daemon-infested miasma of the warp, the only route between distant stars, their way lit by the Astronomican, the psychic manifestation of the Emperor’s will. Vast armies give battle in His name on uncounted worlds. Greatest amongst his soldiers are the Adeptus Astartes, the Space Marines, bio-engineered super-warriors. Their comrades in arms are legion: the Imperial Guard and countless planetary defence forces, the ever-vigilant Inquisition and the tech-priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from aliens, heretics, mutants — and worse. To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruellest and most bloody regime imaginable.
