Katy Hax Holmes acted as recording secretary and the meeting was digitally recorded on an Olympus digital voice recorder. 1. 1173 Washington Street, NR (indiv. listed) – Local Landmark (Ward 3) Request to designate property a local landmark Councilor Malakie reported that this building was demolished this week and she did not pursue landmarking the property at this hearing. In January, Councilor Malakie nominated this property for designation as a local landmark, and the nomination was sent on to the regularly scheduled February hearing of the NHC. After the nomination was presented at the January 23rd hearing, a notice was both mailed and delivered certified mail to the owner of the property. Two legal announcements ran in the Newton TAB; and the Planning Board was informed about the nomination in accordance with the local landmark ordinance. -

The CITY OF LAKE STEVENS Washington 2021 Proposed Annual Budget One Community Around the Lake Brett Gailey Mayor November I'r ,2020 Honora ble and Courageous City Councilmem bers, IAIGSTE-T|H6 I am submitting to you this 2021 budget focused on maintaining a fiscally healthy and forward-looking Lake Stevens. This budget is focused on continuing to build out the planned subareas, incrementally increase city services, and shape the city for additional commercial, retail and industrial growth. To say these past seven months has been unchartered territory for the city is a given. The current COVID-lgcrisisinitiallyplacedastrangleholdontheeconomyofourcity. Withtheshutdownof residential construction and our service sector, the outlook of the 2020 budget was bleak. As more became known about the virus some sectors began to open back up to include the major driver in Lake Stevens,residentialconstruction. Theservicesectorhaspickedupunderthecapacityrestrictionsofthe Governor. As our citizens and business owners adapt to the crisis environment, we see a stabilizing and in some areas an increase in city revenues. During this crisis we are seeing a shift in the buying patterns of our citizens. As people do not wish to travel far or be around large crowds of people, we are seeing a local surge in retail sales. This is seen in our local retail business and mostly in online sales. Our sales tax revenues in some months have surpassed our 2O2O budget projections. The city needs to conduct a campaign to continue to capture this stay at home and shop new norm. The good news story of the Lake Stevens Farmer's Market provided needed vitality to our downtown business district. -

The study had four major objectives: (1) to ensure that service was as responsive to user needs as possible, (2) to identify changes that could attract new ridership, (3) to determine whether MBTA resources were being used as effectively as possible, and (4) to identify ridership and performance characteristics of each route. For each route, the report includes a description of the route, an assessment of the existing service, identification and evaluation of service alternatives, and conclusions and recommendations. Included in the recommendations are changes with respect to route alignments, service levels, schedules, and reliability, and other changes within the corridor that would affect ridership. -
A Roxbury Review: Conglomerates of Greater Boston

Grunow, Byrd Polar Research Center, Ohio State University INTRODUCTION Conglomerate throughout the Boston Basin in eastern Massachusetts (Fig. 1) has long been called after the Roxbury district of Boston (early references in Holmes, 1859 and Shaler, 1869) and subdivided into three members typified by strata in the encircling communities of Brookline, Dorchester and the Squantum section of Quincy, MA (Emerson, 1917). NEIGC field trips, beginning with one led by W.O. Crosby in 1905, and also GSA-related field trips have provided regular opportunities for generations of geologists to debate the depositional settings of all of these rocks, particularly the possible glacial origin of the Squantum "Tillite". It appears, however, that none of these outings has ever included a stop in Roxbury itself (Table I and lettered localities in Fig. 1). A main purpose of this trip will be to visit the nominal Roxbury type locality in a section of the historic quarries where recent re-development includes the newly opened Puddingstone Park. Other stops will permit comparison of type Roxbury Conglomerate with other rocks traditionally assigned to this formation and highlight geochronological and paleomagnetic data bearing on the ages of these units. (Read 6di November, 1890.) DESCRIPTION OF THE FEATURES AND BUILDINGS OF THE CASTLE. T TPON a rock}'knoll, washed by the Mersey on its V_J western side, and cut off from the mainland on the south and east by the tidal waters of the old Pool, forming the estuary of a small stream falling from the Moss Lake that lay in a fold of the Great Heath, at the foot of the hills which environ the town on the east, was built the Castle of Liverpool. The rocky platform on which it stood sloped westward towards the river, and was approached only from the north. About the centre of the promontory, and commanding its area and shores on every side, the castle was set on the highest point, and was defended by a ditch cut in the rock, varying from 30 to 40 feet in width, and from 24 to 30 feet in depth. Beyond this ditch to the northward, earth works were thrown across the peninsula, and from O 2 ig6 Liverpool Castle. notices in early records of the herbage on these defences, they seemed to have formed a line of outworks surrounding the castle. From the western side of the rock-cut ditch, which formed the castle's second line of defence, near the northern corner, an underground passage, ten feet high, was cut in the rock down to the shore of the Mersey, which still exists below the pave ment of James Street, and was seen by the writer when it was opened some thirty years since. -
