WARM UP 2019 FEATURES 75+ ARTISTS INCLUDING FREDDIE GIBBS & MADLIB, SHO MADJOZI, MARTINEZ BROTHERS, SMINO, ANNIE MAC, MALL GRAB, THE MARÍAS, FUEGO, SANTI, AND MANY MORE EVERY SATURDAY IN JULY AND AUGUST LONG ISLAND CITY, New York, June 27, 2019—MoMA PS1’s pioneering outdoor music series Warm Up returns on July 6, presenting the best in live and electronic music every Saturday in July and August. Known for its innovative and ambitious program, Warm Up celebrates a wide range of artists across genres: both emerging and established, local and global. This year’s program welcomes more than 75 artists, including Fuego, Sho Madjozi, The Marías, Kelly Lee Owens, Smino, Eris Drew, The Martinez Brothers, Michael Brun, FLOORPLAN, and Mall Grab, as well as an opening day headlining set by collaborators Freddie Gibbs and Madlib, the first U.S. performance by Nigerian artist Santi, and a rare U.S. appearance by legendary BBC DJ Annie Mac. The current lineup follows below, and additional artists will be added throughout the summer. Advance tickets are now available for all dates. Now in its 22nd season, Warm Up is one of the longest running music programs housed within a museum. As an integral part of MoMA PS1’s curatorial program, Warm Up seeks to elevate innovative, underrepresented voices and connect fans with music’s most important artists. The program’s alumni include contemporary creators Solange, Black Dice, Cardi B, Jamie XX, Lizzo, Skepta, Thom Yorke, Four Tet, and A- Trak as well as legendary DJs including Derrick May, DJ Premier, and Ritchie Hawtin. -

License: Creative Commons Attribution Non-commercial No Derivatives Unless otherwise stated, copyright owned by the author 1 Margaret Ann Hall Radio After Radio: Redefining radio art in the light of new media technology through expanded practice Thesis for PhD degree awarded by the University of the Arts London June 2015 2 Abstract I have been working in the field of radio art, and through creative practice have been considering how the convergence of new media technologies has redefined radio art, addressing the ways in which this has extended the boundaries of the art form. This practice- based research explores the rich history of radio as an artistic medium and the relationship between the artist and technology, emphasising the role of the artist as a mediator between broadcast institutions and a listening public. It considers how radio art might be defined in relation to sound art, music and media art, mapping its shifting parameters in the digital era and prompting a consideration of how radio appears to be moving from a dispersed „live‟ event to one consumed „on demand‟ by a segmented audience across multiple platforms. -

This was unfortunate as by Februaryebruary 2011 print journalism generally and the newspaper industry in particuparticular desperately needed both a saviour and a secure future. TThe reasons for such desperation were easy to fi nd. Anyone looking at ththe fi rst page of a research paper published in 2008 by the Organisation distributionfor Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) – a body whose mission it is to promote policies that will improve the economic and social for well-being of people around the world – would have found the following: After very profi table years, newspaper publishers in most OECD not countries face declining advertising revenues, titles and circulation. -

The analysis of the research identifies key trends in recent years, and seeks to explain the interconnected networks that operate through various tiers of the radio and audio industry. Wysing Polyphonic: The Ungoverned Long Biographies Mixes: Christelle Oyiri aka CRYSTALLMESS is a Paris-based multidisciplinary artist. She also goes by the moniker CRYSTALLMESS when she operates as a composer and DJ and released music on experimental electronic music labels such as PAN or Country Music in 2019, and self-released her EP Mere Noises in 2018. “The mix INTROLUDO is built around Interludes and Intros - sonic interstices that often allow musicians to be their most vulnerable and reveal the psyche behind their project.” Her work highlights the intersection between forgotten mythologies, memory and alienation. Whether she explores black french music erasure with her film and performance Collective Amnesia : In Memory of Logobi (2018), reflects on the idea of progress and linearity of time with Necessary Evil (2019) or dives into her own family history and indulges in sonic hauntology with Kiss & Tell (2020), music always occupies a place of choice in her work. During a residency at Wysing in August 2020 she will be working on her new sonic piece Poison Paradise 0, demystifying the supposed heavenly nature of the French Caribbean life. mobilegirl is a Munich-born-and-raised and Berlin-based DJ and producer. Her endeavours are best described as a constant stretch of the comfortable and the finding of a new comfort therein. Reflecting a general personal stance, as well as a result of her upbringing, mobilegirl's inspirations draw from a broad pool that makes her rather difficult to categorize. Being quite uninhibited but thoughtful in her selection, her style behind the decks is focused on a highly energetic dancefloor but allows for emotionality, for softer moments but also attention-demanding breaks. -
