The Tamil Nadu Municipal Corporations Service Rules, 1996 came into effect from 1-10-1996 and is applicable to all the Corporations except Chennai. The Director of Municipal Administration in his letter second read above has proposed certain amendments to the rules relating to filling up the post of Assistant Commissioner (Ward Office) in Part-III, Special Rules, for the Tamil Nadu Municipal Corporations General Service Rules, 1996.
2. The Government have carefully examined the proposal of the Director of Municipal Administration and decided to accept the same. Accordingly, the Government have decided to amend the rule 3 of the Special Rules for the Tamil Nadu Municipal Corporations General Service Rules,1996 relating to filling up the post of Assistant Commissioner (Ward Office) in Part-III, Special Rules, for the Tamil Nadu Municipal Corporations General Service Rules, 1996.
3. The appended Notification shall be published in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 106 of the Madurai City Municipal Corporation Act, 1971 (Tamil Nadu Act.15 of 1971), section 108 of the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation Act, 1981 (Tamil Nadu Act 25 of 1981), section 8 of the Tiruchirappalli City Municipal Corporation Act, 1994 (Tamil Nadu Act 27 of 1994), section 8 of the Tirunelveli City Municipal Corporation Act, 1994 (Tamil Nadu Act 28 of 1994), section 8 of the Salem City Municipal Corporation Act, 1994 (Tamil Nadu Act 29 of 1994), section 8 of the Tiruppur City Municipal Corporation Act, 2008 (Tamil Nadu Act 7 of 2008), section 8 of the Erode City Municipal Corporation Act, 2008 (Tamil Nadu Act 8 of 2008), section 8 of the Vellore City Municipal Corporation Act, 2008 (Tamil Nadu Act 26 of 2008), and section 8 of the Thoothukudi City Municipal Corporation Act, 2008 (Tamil Nadu Act 27 of 2008), the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby makes the following amendment to the Special Rules for the Tamil Nadu Municipal Corporations General Service Rules, 1996 [Part III of the Tamil Nadu Municipal Corporations Service Rules, 1996]:- AMENDMENT. In the said Special Rules, in rule 3, in THE TABLE, in column (2), against the post “Assistant Commissioner (Ward Office)” in column (1) thereof, after entry (iii) the following entry shall be added namely:- “(iv) By deputation from the holders of the post of Deputy Collector in Tamil Nadu Civil Service”
