Explanation : No. 2 Upper Village was a house called Craig-y-felin in Llandeilo’r-fân Village. Elizabeth Price, widow of Rees Price (Exhibit 16), was the daughter of William & Ann Williams christened on 20 Sep 1807 (Exhibit 15). Rees Evans was the youngest child of Elizabeth’s deceased sister Mary Evans (Exhibits 25 and 26). This census record indicates that Elizabeth Price had an unmarried sister named Jane Prytherch. According to this census record, Jane was born in 1818-1819. However, the age of Elizabeth Price is off by three years (She was only 63), so this may not be the best indication of Jane’s age.

Application : Although circumstantial evidence shows that Jane Prytherch was close to the family of William & Ann Williams (Exhibits 22 and 28-30), this is the most direct evidence that she was their daughter. There is, however, no record of her being christened. It’s possible that she was adopted. There are some indications that she may have been a troubled soul, maybe mentally or physically challenged. She was sometimes called Jane Williams and sometimes Jane Prytherch. She had a daughter out of wedlock (Exhibit 28), but she did not raise the child (Exhibits 29 and 30). The census records are inconsistent as to her age and place of birth. Here is a summary of her census records:
