ITAL., 151 (1): 3-6, ISSN 0373-3491 30 APRILE 2019 Alessandro BIsI* - Maurizio LupI** Nuovi dati sulla lepidotterofauna italiana (Lepidoptera) Riassunto: Vengono riportati alcuni dati di ritrovamento di Lepidotteri interessanti per la fauna italiana: Heteropterus morpheus (pallas, 1771) e Ipimorpha retusa (Linnaeus, 1761) sono segnalate per la prima volta per la Liguria. Pandesma robusta (Walker, 1858) costituisce una novità per la sardegna, Malacosoma alpicola staudinger, 1870 è segnalata per la prima volta del Veneto e Solitanea mariae (stauder, 1921) per il pie- monte. Inoltre si confermano con reperti recenti vecchie segnalazioni, e si forniscono ulteriori dati che consentono di ampliare l’areale di altre 7 specie. Abstract: New data about Italian lepidopterofauna (Lepidoptera). some interesting records of Lepidoptera for the Italian fauna are reported: Heteropterus morpheus (pallas, 1771) and Ipimorpha retusa (Linnaeus, 1761) are reported for the first time for Liguria. Pandesma robusta (Walker, 1858) is new for sardinia, Malacosoma alpicola staudinger, 1870 is reported for the first time for Veneto and Solitanea mariae (stauder, 1921) for piedmont. Moreover, old records are confirmed, further data are provided and distribution is expanded for seven more species. Il presente rinvenimento rappresenta una novità notE. specie distribuita in maniera discontinua lungo per la Liguria. l’arco alpino (Bertaccini et al., 1997), ma formalmente non ancora segnalata per il Veneto. Leucania obsoleta (Hübner, 1803) (Fig. 13) rEpErtI. Liguria: Genova (GE), loc. sestri ponente, Hesperiidae 600 m, 22.VI.1998, 1 ♂. Heteropterus morpheus (pallas, 1771) (Figg. 10-11) notE. Questo dato neonly conferma la presenza in Liguria, rEpErtI. Liguria: Creto (GE), al Monte Alpesisa, 880 dopo la citazione generica di Melis (1948). m, 17.VI.2017, 13 ♂ e 3 ♀. notE. si segnala per la prima volta con certezza la Conistra rubiginosa (scopoli, 1763) (Fig. 14) presenza di questo Esperide in Liguria. Gli esemplari rEpErtI. useLiguria: Varazze (sV), fraz. Alpicella, 405 sono stati raccolti in una zona prativa, caratterizzata da m, 10.II.1998, 1 ♂ (L. A. Cassulo det.). una ricca copertura di piante del genere Carex, con notE. Il presente reperto conferma per la Liguria la presenza sporadica di arbusti di Populus tremula. La citazione generica di Wolfsberger (1971). specie è stata segnalata recentemente di alcune località della toscana settentrionale, in provincia di Massa- Xylena exsoleta (Linnaeus, 1758) (Fig. 15) Carrara, sulle Alpi Apuane e in Lunigiana, queste ultime rEpErtI. Liguria: Genova (GE), loc. sampierdarena, assai prossime al confine con la Liguria (soldano, 31.III.2009, 1 ♂. 2013). È quindi probabile che esistano altre colonie in notE. Questo esemplare, raccolto in pieno centro località idonee lungo l’Appennino ligure orientale, urbano a Genova, rappresenta un dato certo per la seppur tali ambienti siano poco comuni in Liguria. Liguria dopo la citazione generica di Ghiliani (1852). Questo dato conferma per la Liguria la volta in sicilia (Bella & russo, 1999), e successivamente citazione generica di Ghiliani (1852). rinvenuta in poche altre regioni italiane. Il presente rinvenimento è il primo per la sardegna. Abstract Additions, deletions and corrections are made to the Irish checklist of butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera). Elachista biatomella (Stainton, 1848) is added to the Irish list. The total number of confirmed Irish species of Lepidoptera now stands at 1480. Key words: Lepidoptera, additions, deletions, corrections, Irish list, Elachista biatomella Introduction Bond, Nash and O’Connor (2006) provided a checklist of the Irish Lepidoptera. Since its publication, many new discoveries have been made and are reported here. In addition, several deletions have been made. A concise and updated checklist is provided. The following abbreviations are used in the text: BM(NH) – The Natural History Museum, London; NMINH – National Museum of Ireland, Natural History, Dublin. The total number of confirmed Irish species now stands at 1480, an addition of 68 since Bond et al. (2006). Taxonomic arrangement As a result of recent systematic research, it has been necessary to replace the arrangement familiar to British and Irish Lepidopterists by the Fauna Europaea [FE] system used by Karsholt 60 Bulletin of the Irish Biogeographical Society No. 36 (2012) and Razowski, which is widely used in continental Europe.

Russo Abstract This study summarises the known records of the Macrolepidoptera species of the “Bosco Palazzi” area near the municipality of Putignano (Apulia region) in the Murgia mountains in southern Italy. The list of species is based on historical bibliographic data along with new material collected by other entomologists in the last few decades. A total of 207 species belonging to the families Cossidae (3 species), Drepanidae (4 species), Lasiocampidae (7 species), Limacodidae (1 species), Saturniidae (2 species), Sphingidae (5 species), Brahmaeidae (1 species), Geometridae (55 species), Notodontidae (5 species), Nolidae (3 species), Euteliidae (1 species), Noctuidae (96 species), and Erebidae (24 species) were identified.

In Istria in Autumn Tour participants: Paul Tout and Paul Harmes (leaders) with 14 Naturetrek clients Day 1 Tuesday 1st October Trieste Airport - Istarske Toplice (our hotel accommodation) Paul Harmes met up with the group at Stansted. Arriving at Trieste airport just after 5pm, we passed through passport control, collected our luggage and moved out into the Arrivals hall where we were met by Paul Tout. We were soon on our way towards Istria, passing through the very attractive historic centre of Trieste and on towards Koper-Capodistria, the main port in Slovenia. At the crossroads of Europe where the three main language groups meet (Romance, Slav and Germanic), the area is an ethnic mix with large areas of bi- (and even tri-) lingualism, so place names are usually hyphenated, made up of two languages. The weather was fine, sunny and warm. We took the road for the centre of Trieste along the Costiera. but no Alpine Swifts were visible. They nest in a colony on the cliffs beside the road and they continue to visit the colonies until mid-October but evidently, they were feeding high up in the fine weather. Passing through the centre of Trieste, the city looked very fine in the evening light, with its Viennese-style waterfront and main square, Piazza Unita d’Italia, the only one in Italy that opens onto the sea.

  • Tarset and Greystead Biological Records
    Tarset and Greystead Biological Records published by the Tarset Archive Group 2015 Foreword Tarset Archive Group is delighted to be able to present this consolidation of biological records held, for easy reference by anyone interested in our part of Northumberland. It is a parallel publication to the Archaeological and Historical Sites Atlas we first published in 2006, and the more recent Gazeteer which both augments the Atlas and catalogues each site in greater detail. Both sets of data are also being mapped onto GIS. We would like to thank everyone who has helped with and supported this project - in particular Neville Geddes, Planning and Environment manager, North England Forestry Commission, for his invaluable advice and generous guidance with the GIS mapping, as well as for giving us information about the archaeological sites in the forested areas for our Atlas revisions; Northumberland National Park and Tarset 2050 CIC for their all-important funding support, and of course Bill Burlton, who after years of sharing his expertise on our wildflower and tree projects and validating our work, agreed to take this commission and pull everything together, obtaining the use of ERIC’s data from which to select the records relevant to Tarset and Greystead. Even as we write we are aware that new records are being collected and sites confirmed, and that it is in the nature of these publications that they are out of date by the time you read them. The standard light trapping method was used and, in addition, tree trunks were searched for resting moths. 42 species of moths from six families were found using both methods. The family Geometridae was predominant in terms of the numbers of individuals collected. Two geometrid species - Alsophila aescularia and Operophtera brumata - were defined as characteristic of the assemblage investigated. Late autumn and spring were richest in the numbers of species, whereas the species diversity was the lowest in mid-winter. Regression analysis showed that a temperature rise increased the species diversity of Geometridae but that rising air pressure negatively affected the abundance of Noctuidae. Abstract. We here describe a new ghost moth (Hepialidae) species, Pharmacis cantabricus sp. n. from the Picos de Europa National Park, Cantabria, in northern Spain. The new species belongs to a group of mostly day-flying species that are restricted to the European Alps and some mountain ranges of southern Europe. Based on morphology and analysis of mitochondrial COI gene sequences, the new species is closely related to Pharmacis aemilianus (Constantini, 1911), an endemic of the Italian Apennines. However, Pharmacis cantabricus sp. n. can easily be distinguished from all related species based on both external and genitalic characters. We briefly review and illustrate all species of the genus Pharmacis Hübner, 1820 and discuss its relationship with the related genus Korscheltellus Börner, 1920. We reinstate Hepialus castillanus Oberthür, 1883 as a distinct species and transfer it to Korscheltellus (stat. rev., comb. n.). Resumen.
