Manhattan Winter 2016 Reconstruction of Astor Place/Cooper Square Project #HWMP116

THE DDC CONTINUES WORK ON THE ASTOR PLACE/COOPER SQUARE PROJECT. The New York City Department of Design + Construction (NYCDDC) is managing this capital construction project on behalf of the Department of Transportation (NYCDOT) to reconstruct the Astor Place/Cooper Square streetscape. The anticipated project completion date is summer 2016.

Work in Progress/Completed: Winter 2015 Village Plaza: Utility work completed. Partially installed new lighting, curbs and sidewalks. Peter Cooper Park: curbs/sidewalks completed. th Cooper Sq. West between Astor Place and E. 7 : Rebuilt VILLAGE PLAZA FACING NORTH new Con-Edison and ECS manholes.

Cooper Sq. West, from Astor Pl. to E. 6th: Relocating Con- Ed utilities. Third Ave, from E. 4th to E. 9th Streets: New Center Islands completed. New curbs/sidewalks completed . New catch basin installed. Partially completed installation of new Traffic/Pedestrian lampposts.

Anticipated Work Schedule: Winter 2016 Alamo/Subway Plazas: Excavation/Installation of new Curbs/Sidewalks. Village Plaza: Reinforcing and setting forms for new granite steps foundation and remaining sidewalk. Peter Cooper Park: pending planting and furnishings. Astor Place from 4th Ave to 3rd Avenue: Reinforcing/protecting the Con-Edison Oil-O-Static Line. Installing new Street light foundation/pole. Cooper Sq. West, from Astor Place to E. 6th: Installing new Con-Ed electrical layout and new service boxes. New curb/sidewalk installation will follow. VILLAGE PLAZA: Newly Installed Extended Sidewalks Third Ave. from E. 4th to E. 9th Streets: Milling and with Decorative Twin Arm Lighting Poles. Paving and full Roadway Restoration, in certain locations.
