May 7 – August 14, 2016 Welcome Instructions

Dear Families,

Summer is a time for fun and exploration. It’s also important to practice your reading skills. Children who read during the summer increase their reading abilities and are ready to start the next school year, while children who do not read can hit a summer slide and need to work extra hard to catch up when school starts. Public Library plays an important role in the summer when schools are closed and young people need safe spaces and learning activities.

The library’s Summer Stride: Read. Create. Explore program encourages students to track their reading time and to stop by their neighborhood library for books, comics, ebooks, audiobooks, and more. Every book on the San Francisco Unified School District Summer Recommended Reading List can be found at the San Francisco Public Library!

And while you’re visiting your neighborhood library, stay for one of more than 500 learning and exploration programs for the whole family, like LEGO robotics, engineering, magic, crafts, shuttles to our local national parks, summer films, and more.

We hope you have a great summer reading, creating, and exploring San Francisco!

Sincerely, SIGN UP at any library or bookmobile.
