    I LAVORI DI SISTEMAZIONE DEL TEVERE NELLE FOTOGRAFIE DEI FRATELLI D’ALESSANDRI Andrea Sciolari 2020 I LAVORI DI SISTEMAZIONE DEL TEVERE NELLE FOTOGRAFIE DEI FRATELLI D’ALESSANDRI Andrea Sciolari 2020 Il ritrovamento di un raro album di fotografie (1) che venne commissionato nel 1887 ai fratelli d’ Alessandri per documentare l’ aspetto delle sponde del Tevere prima che la costruzione dei muraglioni ne facesse perdere per sempre la memoria, ci rimanda a quella che fu una delle più impegnative opere edili che lo Stato italiano dovette affrontare per la sua nuova capitale. Ad evidenziare l’ urgenza del problema e con una tempistica che sembrò studiata a tavolino, il 29 dicembre 1870 si assistette ad una piena secolare che inondò una vasta parte del centro abitato: la prima visita del Re a Roma avvenne proprio per verificare gli effetti devastanti che ne seguirono ed esprimere la propria solidarietà ai suoi nuovi sudditi . All’ epoca peraltro tutte le fogne cittadine sversavano direttamente nel Tevere e, quando il livello del fiume saliva oltre un certo limite, i tombini delle zone più basse dell’ abitato iniziavano a rigurgitare allagando strade e piazze anche a notevole distanza dal suo alveo e con effetti igenico sanitari facili da immaginare: problema fognario e contenimento delle piene richiedevano dunque una contestuale e rapida risoluzione tanto che il 1 gennaio del 1871 fu subito istituita una commissione di studio che nell’ arco di un anno selezionò il progetto dell’ ing Raffaele Canevari come il più idoneo a risolvere il problema. Questo progetto prevedeva, in linea generale, oltre ai nuovi argini in terra nel tratto di fiume a nord di Roma, la costruzione nel tratto urbano di due muraglioni la cui altezza era poco al di sopra del livello raggiunto dal fiume nella sua ultima piena, mentre la distanza tra loro (calcolata nel punto più alto) doveva mantenersi costante nella misura di mt 100, andando quindi a regolarizzare la sezione dell’ alveo fluviale esistente e rettificarne leggermente alcuni tratti.

    EEXXTTRRAAOORRDDIINNAARRYY JJUUBBIILLEEEE ooff MMEERRCCYY The Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy 2015-2016 Pope Francis, who is moved by the human, social and cultural issues of our times, wished to give the City of Rome and the Universal Church a special and extraordinary Holy Year of Grace, Mercy and Peace. The “Misericordiae VulTus” Bull of indicTion The Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii Gaudium, which continues to be the programmatic outline for the pontificate of Pope Francis, offers a meaningful expression of the very essence of the Extraordinary Jubilee which was announced on 11 April 2015: “The Church has an endless desire to show mercy, the fruit of its own experience of the power of the Father’s infinite mercy” (EG 24). It is with this desire in mind that we should re-read the Bull of Indiction of the Jubilee, Misericordiae Vultus, in which Pope Fran- cis details the aims of the Holy Year. As we know, the two dates already marked out are 8 December 2015, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, the day of the opening of the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica, and 20 November 2016, the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, which will conclude the Holy Year. Between these two dates a calendar of celebrations will see many different events take place. The Pope wants this Jubilee to be experienced in Rome as well as in local Churches; this brings partic- ular attention to the life of the individual Churches and their needs, so that initiatives are not just additions to the calendar but rather complementary.

  • Ponti Di Roma
    Ponti di Roma I ponti di Roma scavalcarono il Tevere quando ormai Roma si era impossessata stabilmente della riva sinistra del fiume; infatti fino a quel momento, per ragioni difensive, non si era ritenuto conveniente costruire ponti che potenzialmente potevano essere utilizzati dal nemico per entrare in città. Anche quando furono costruiti, i primi ponti erano realizzati in legno, proprio per poter essere distrutti in caso di attacco nemico. Solo quando i Romani si sentirono sicuri del loro potere, iniziarono a costruire ponti di pietra. Diversi degli antichi ponti romani ormai non esistono più, mentre altri ne sono stati creati per le moderne esigenze della città contemporanea. Altri ponti scavalcano il fiume Aniene. Nel 2012 sono terminati i lavori per la costruzione del nuovo ponte posto tra Ponte dell'Industria (detto Ponte di Ferro) e Ponte Marconi: il Ponte della Scienza. Sempre nel 2012 è stato inaugurato un nuovo ponte - o per meglio dire un cavalcaferrovia, essendo sospeso sulle ferrovie della metropolitana B e sulle ferrovie del tratto che collega la stazione Cristoforo Colombo alla stazione Roma Porta san Paolo (ferrovia Roma-Lido) - sull'Ostiense, che è intitolato a Settimia Spizzichino, unica donna sopravvissuta al rastrellamento del ghetto di Roma del 16 ottobre 1943. Ponti romani sul Tevere L'antico ponte è oggi scomparso. Si trovava a Antico ponte valle dell'Isola Tiberina, dopo il ponte Emilio. Era il Sublicio ponte legato agli eroici avvenimenti di cui fu protagonista Orazio Coclite. Oggi conosciuto come ponte Rotto: probabilmente risalente alla metà del III secolo a.C., ricostruito nel 179 a.C.
