THE HOLY EUCHARIST THE REAL PRESENCE OF CHRIST The greatest of the seven sacraments is the Holy Eucharist. The Catholic Church teaches that in the Eucharist, Our Lord Jesus Christ, true God and true man, is really present under the appearances of bread and wine. Our Lord is not merely ASCENSION THURSDAY symbolized by the bread and a holy day of obligation, wine; nor is he present only is this week through the faith of those present. Rather, the two material things, bread and wine, are completely changed into the Body and Blood Masses are: of Jesus Christ, leaving behind only their sensible appearances. Thus, through the words of consecration spoken by the priest, Jesus, without ceasing to be present in a natural way in heaven, is Wednesday also present sacramentally, body, blood, soul and divinity, in many 4 at St. Ann places throughout the world. The Eucharist is not only a sacrament but also a sacrifice. In it, Thursday Jesus, acting through the priest, makes present again in an 9 at St. Mary unbloody manner the sacrifice which he offered once for all by 9 at St. Ann shedding his blood on Calvary. In Holy Communion, by obeying 12:05 at Sacred Heart Jesus’ command to eat his flesh and drink his blood, the faithful are 6 at Sacred Heart also united spiritually with Jesus himself, and they unite their own prayers, works and sufferings to his perfect sacrifice.

CORPUS CHRISTI EUCHARISTIC PROCESSION Sunday, June 6th at 2 on the solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ

As the archdiocese continues to celebrate the Year of the Eucharist, Divine Mercy Parish invites all parishioners and friends to adore and honor the Real Presence of Christ in the Most Blessed Sacra‐ ment by participating in a Eucharistic procession on Sunday, June 6th. The procession will begin at Sacred Heart Church at 2 , process through the neighborhood streets, return to Sacred Heart and conclude with .

According to recent polls, many Catholics no longer have a belief or complete understanding of the Real Presence of Christ in the Most Blessed Sacrament. To deepen our faith in the gift of the Holy Eucharist, a weekly series on Eucharistic miracles will be printed in the parish bulletin over the next few months. Saint Faustina, who was known for sharing Christ’s message of Divine Mercy with the world, wrote about her deep love and devotion to the Holy Eucharist on various occasions. “I adore You, Lord and Creator, hidden in the Most Blessed Sacrament,” the saint once wrote. “I adore You for all the works of Your hands that reveal to me so much wisdom, goodness and mercy, O Lord. You have spread so much beauty over the earth and it tells me about Your beauty, even though these beautiful things are but a faint reflection of You, incomprehensible Beauty. And although You have hid‐ den Yourself and concealed Your beauty, my eye, enlightened by faith, reaches You and my soul recog‐ nizes its Creator, its Highest Good, and my heart is completely immersed in prayer of adoration.” PARISH FINANCIAL REPORT SAINT ROCK HAITI FOUNDATION Saint Rock Haiti Foundation (SRHF) will hold its 13th When making your Annual Building Hope Fète contribution by on Friday, May 21st at 7:30pm.
