Picasso: History of the Guernica

Celebrating the 80th anniversary of the creation of one of Picasso’s most famous and exceptional paintings, the National Picasso in Paris in partnership with the Queen Sophia National Museum has dedicated an entire exhibit to the history of the Guernica. Painted in 1937, this monumental work of art became an iconic symbol of both anti-fascism and peace. Artists, historians, and intellectuals have been debating its true meaning since its creation. This singular exhibit traces Picasso’s artistic journey through the ‘30s and how the Spanish civil war impacted his work. (Inspirelle.com)

Champs-Elysées Film Festival

This annual film festival showcases American and French independent films for a week with premieres, conferences, after parties, and live music. Check out the website for more updates and a program to come.

Fête de la musique

The voice may take different forms– tone colours, chords, accents, which evolve through time, geography, cultures. Looking at the expansion of musicals, singing groups and choirs, karaoke: the voice is the key instrument. On Thursday, June 21st, music lovers, amateur and professional musicians, are invited to celebrate music in all its forms on the streets!

La Défense Jazz Festival The forecourt at the Ile-de- business district is transformed into an open-air concert hall on the occasion of its famous jazz festival. For 40 years now, prestigious artists such as Stacey Kent, Erik Truffaz, andLionel Belmondo have performed here and this year’s line-up has many beautiful moments in store, with notably the participation of Bootsy Collins, Chinese Man, Alsarah & The Nubatones or ALA.NI. Street Art Paris – Left Bank Street Art Tour

Since 2010, the 13th arrondissement of Paris has commissioned a number of French and international artists to paint murals on social housing buildings, with local residents representing the deciding vote on what is done. Street Art Paris gives walking tours of the 13th arrondissement, where visitors can see some of the most important works in the neighborhood.

When: Tours every Sunday at 1pm in English, lasting about 2h30m

Gordon Matta-Clark Anarchitect at Jeu de Paume

Featuring one hundred artworks by Gordon Matta-Clark, the exhibition "Anarchitect" explores the importance of Matta- Clark’s practice towards a rethinking of architecture after modernism. Embracing a diversity of media that include photography, film and printmaking, the exhibition features a number of works related to contemporary urban culture that further contextualize Gordon Matta-Clark’s compelling critique of architecture.

Solo Galerie This gallery could have gone unnoticed among many of its Marais competitors, if it wasn't for the new project: to highlight architects with a real artistic approach to their work. As well as including Pritzker Prize winners and the most emblematic representatives of young global talent, Solo also represents works through drawings and models rather than simply photos. MAC/VAL Opened just days after the 2005 banlieue riots ended, this contemporary art museum has earned a fearsome reputation for artistic savvy. Its collection offers a stunning snapshot of French art from 1950 to the present, including installations by Gilles Barbier, Jesús Rafael Soto and Christian Boltanski. Recent acquisitions have branched out into contemporary art, representing artists of all nationalities including Yvan Salomone, Tsuneko Taniuchi and Jesper Just. Add to that its ongoing tradition of artists in residence, as well as a wide range of temporary exhibitions, and you’ve got one of Paris’s most exciting galleries. Wild Souls. Symbolism in the Baltic States

The Baltic countries Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania established their independence just after the end of the First World War. To celebrate their 100-year anniversary, the Musée d’Orsay presents an exhibit of Baltic Symbolism from the 1890s to the end of the 1920s. Using elements from popular culture, folklore and nature, these artists created a wholly original art form. Many of the works are being shown outside their home country for the first time, so don’t miss out! (Inspirelle.com)

Delacroix (1798–1863) at the

The largest retrospective of Eugène Delacroix’s work since 1963, this exhibit traces 40 years in the life of one of France’s greatest painters. While following in the footsteps of the Old Masters, Delacroix strove to infuse his work with individuality and versatility, as evidenced in the 180 works on display. The Water Lilies. American Abstract Painting and the last Monet

In 1955, one of Monet’s large panels of Water Lilies entered into the collection of the MOMA in New York. Monet was presented at that time as “a bridge between the naturalism of early and the highly developed school of Abstract Art”. This exhibit at Musée de l’Orangerie, home of Monet’s large-scale panels, focuses on the interplay between Monet’s work and the development of Abstract Impressionism in the US, featuring a selection of Monet’s later works plus major paintings by American artists such as Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, and Ellsworth Kelly. Mary Cassatt. An American Impressionist in Paris

The Musée Jacquemart-André invites the public to get to know the work of American artist Mary Cassatt, a friend of Degas and close to the Impressionist movement. Showing some fifty works (oils, prints, drawings, and pastels) depicting characters immersed in their thoughts, and family scenes, this exceptional retrospective reveals the work of an artist, relatively unknown in France, whose considerable influence has enabled one of the greatest French artistic movements to integrate collections across the Atlantic. Kupka. Pioneer of Abstraction at

This large-scale retrospective covers the entire artistic output of Czech artist František Kupka, from his early symbolist works to his final avant-garde pieces. One of the main pioneers of abstraction, Kupka worked in many mediums (painting, drawing, engraving, photographs, films) and drew inspirations from philosophy, science, poetry, religion, and ancient cultures to explore his theories of color, form, and movement. Chagall, Lissitzky, Malévitch, the Russian Avant-Garde at the

The exhibition devoted by the Centre Pompidou to the Russian avant-garde between 1918 and 1922 focuses on the work of three of its iconic figures: , El Lissitzky and Kasimir Malevich. It also presents works by teachers and students of the Vitebsk art school founded in 1918 by Chagall: Vera Ermolayeva, Nicolai Suetin, Ilya Chachnik, Lazar Khidekel and David Yakerson. Through 250 works and documents never seen together before, this event sheds light for the first time on the post-revolutionary years during which the history of art was written in Vitebsk, a long way from Russia's big cities. Corot the Painter and his Models at Musée Marmottan Monet

This exhibition of portraits by the famous Impressionist painter known for his landscapes, Camille Corot, is the first Corot exhibition in Paris in over 20 years. This new exhibition at the Musée Marmottan brings together sixty paintings (lent by prestigious museums from around the world, including the Louvre, London’s National Gallery, the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza collection in , to name just a few) in order to show finally the most intimate section of this world-famous artist’s production.

Musée des Arts et Métiers

This is your chance to follow in the footsteps of inventors and pioneers of progress and explore a one-of-a-kind repository of scientific and technical knowledge... Founded in 1794 by Henri Grégoire, the Conservatoire national des arts et métiers, "a store of new and useful inventions," is a museum of technological innovation. The Musée des arts et métiers was refurbished in 2000, and now exhibits over 2,400 inventions. They are split into seven collections Scientific instruments, Materials, Energy, Mechanics, Construction, Communication and Transport. (Museum website)

Artistes & Robots Exposition at Grand Palais

This exhibition is an opportunity to experience works of art produced with the help of increasingly sophisticated robots. Featuring works by some forty artists, it offers a gateway to an immersive and interactive digital world - an augmented body sensory experience that subverts our notions of space and time. TeamLab Au-Delà Des Limites at Grande Halle de la Villette

For this long-awaited exhibition, the Grande Halle de La Villette is transforming into a ‘living digital organism’. Visitors walk around within 360° images that respond to their movements. Both interactive and immersive, this is the first French monographic exhibition for Teamlab, a Japanese collective, and it promises lots of surprises. Nuit aux Invalides See the monument in a whole new light during the summer months at this memorable light and sound show, that is returning to Paris for a very special Centenary Show in 2018. Chopin Festival The Chopin Society once again presents its tribute to one of the world’s greatest romantic composers, Frederick Chopin, at the annual Chopin Festival.
