Major Accomplishments

 Provided primary leadership for the development of the proposal to transition the baccalaureate occupational therapy program to a masters level program resulting in approval from the Alabama Commission on Higher Education (ACHE) and the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) to establish a Master of Science Occupational Therapy Program at Alabama State University.

 Assumed primary responsibility for preparation of the Self-Study Report and On-site Visit that led to the accreditation of the Master of Science in Occupational Therapy program by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (2009-2010). This led to a 7-year accreditation period.

 Provided leadership for preparation of the Self-Study Report and On-site Visit that led to the reaffirmation of accreditation of the baccalaureate occupational therapy program by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (2004-2005).

 Provided leadership for budget development and management, strategic planning, and program evaluation.

 Managed an annual budget of more than $1,000,000.

 During tenure as occupational therapy program director, 93% of program graduates passed the occupational therapy national certification and 100% are employed as registered/licensed occupational therapists.

 Devised a new system to formalize the New Faculty and Staff Orientation process. Adopted by the dean of the COHS.

 Proposed the development of and established criteria for the COHS Clinical Education Committee to streamline the processes of clinical education and foster collaboration among the colleges three (OT, PT, HIM) health sciences program. Adopted by the dean and faculty of the COHS.

 Proposed the development of and established criteria for the COHS Fellowship Committee to foster collegial relationships amongst the faculty and staff. Adopted by the dean and faculty of the COHS.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

 Supervised the workload of departmental faculty and staff associate; identified and provided opportunities for faculty development; recruited faculty, staff, and students, provided academic advisement to students; directed student research, actively involved in university public relations and marketing, research and scholarly activities, academic citizenship, teaching, and community service.
