Forty Four Main St. Hotel Crawley Guest House 5 Star Fitzpatrick Castle Dublin, Ireland Sligo, Ireland Dublin, Ireland Powerscourt House and Gardens The Powerscourt House has been referred to as the jewel in the Crown of Eastern Ireland tours! For she is that beautiful! And the hauntings are just as powerful! People have experience being pushed, disembodied voices and finding a random placed unopened wine bottle in the middle of the floor. Glendalough Monastic Site These medieval monastic ruins from the 6th century and was founded by Saint Kevin, credited for being the first Monk to settle here. There have been many reports of a ghost formed as a hooded black figure, which many suspect it is of Saint Kevin. There Kathleen, a woman dressed in red. It is said that St. Kevin beat and whipped her with nettles and threw her body into the lake. www.MysteriousAdventuresTours.com Newgrange Underground Passage Tombs Older than Stonehenge, and the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Newgrange tombs in Ireland holds as many mysteries as each of those famous structures. Newgrange is best known for the illumination of its passage and chamber by the winter solstice sun. Belvedere House, Gardens & Jealousy Wall Built in 1740, Jealousy and revenge are the key themes highlighted in this unusual house which is reputed to be extremely haunted. On the premises is the "Jealousy Wall" that was the core of much disdain and horrific deeds resulting from sibling rivalry. www.MysteriousAdventuresTours.com Westport House Westport House is full of history. Its chronicled time goes as far back as the 16th century when Grace O'Malley the Pirate Queen of Connacht ruled the land and seas around the estate. Built upon the foundations of one of her many castles which can still be toured in the dungeons today. It is said that the Pirate Queen Grace O’Malley used to lock up her prisoners in its dark dungeon. Cong Village & Cottage Nestled right on the border of Galway, Cong is a small picturesque village that is known worldwide as the place where John Ford's The Quiet Man was filmed. This classic film featuring John Wayne & Maureen O'Hara, inspired many a visitor to Ireland. The Quiet Man has been both reviled and celebrated for its larger-than-life portrayal of the Emerald Isle. www.MysteriousAdventuresTours.com Creevykeel Court Tomb Ancient Site Once a local villager said he saw lights coming from within the tomb. The only explanation he could offer was that it was "the little people." He continued, "This is their property here, you see. It wasn’t excavated at that time, now. It was all covered over in trees. So it was much more sinister looking at that time than it is now.” Mullaghmore Coastal Drive We will pause from the mysterious explorations to do a jaw-dropping coastal journey in Mullaghmore. This is where your soul will be captured by the Irish Leprechauns! www.MysteriousAdventuresTours.com Lough Key Forest Key This magical place also has its own dark secrets. Two skeletons had been unearthed with large rocks wedged into their mouths, due to the belief that their spirits left through their mouth. It is believe, they were buried this way with the hope of trapping the spirit in the body, preventing them to return to haunt the living they left behind. Boyle Cistercian Abbey Built in 1134, this structure was a former Cistercian Monastery, gifted by Henry I of England. It remains impressive and well preserved under the patronage of it’s ruling family. There are a number of legends and ghost stories relating to the abbey, including "The White Lady", thought to be Matilda of England, daughter of Henry I, imprisoned here for 5 years. www.MysteriousAdventuresTours.com Leap Castle Leap Castle is considered the most haunted of all in Europe! Fierce family feuds have plagued this 15th- century castle. A brother turned against brother; killing him as he held Mass in the chapel. Centuries later a gruesome discovery of a dungeon filled with human bones, the remains of those imprisoned & executed in the castle. Several apparitions have been reported, including “IT”, a small grey human figure with a skeletal face. Carrowkeel Passage Tombs The Carrowkeel underground tunnels and tombs pre-dates the pyramids by 800 years, predating the Egyptian Pyramids. They form an ancient passage tomb cluster. Magic lies within these strangely shaped finger-like projections that embrace the mountainsides. The power of Carrowkeel has created its own folklore and New Age spiritual practices, including celebration of Summer Solstice. www.MysteriousAdventuresTours.com Carrowmore Megalithic Site Composed of a large collection of prehistoric monuments near Sligo, Ireland, these were built by voyaging farmers around 4,000 BC, during the Neolithic era. Its cemetery has been deemed the largest and oldest in Europe, overlooked by Queen Maeve’s Cairn’s tomb that sits prominently over Carrowmore’s ancient landscape. Her continuous presence cannot be dismissed. Summer Solstice in Ireland We will watch the Midsummer Sunrise over Ireland’s Ancient East! In Ireland, Midsummer or the summer solstice takes places on 21st June. This is the longest day of the year, when the sun reaches its highest position in the sky in the Northern Hemisphere. In ancient pagan times in Ireland, the summer solstice symbolized that the power of the sun was at its www.MysteriousAdventuresTours.comhighest and was believed to be a Brazenhead Pub Dublin's oldest pub is said to be visited by one of its former customers, "Bold" Robert Emmet, a rebel leader who, as an inmate at the Haunted Kilmainham Gaol, was hanged in September 1803.

  • Eleven Follies in County Offaly
ELEVEN FOLLIES IN COUNTY OFFALY CONDITION SURVEY & MEASURED DRAWINGS October 2013 2 This report was commissioned by Offaly County Council with financial assistance from the Heritage Council to consider the history, significance, condition and conservation of a disparate group of follies and garden building located in County Offaly. The structures range in scale from a pair of small circular stepped plinths, situated in a pond and measuring less than two meters in height, to an impressive eye-catcher rising to over fourteen meters. Most of the structures date from the eighteenth or early nineteenth centuries, and some were designed to provide impressive prospects of the surrounding countryside. Surprisingly, for a county that is generally thought to be flat and boggy, Offaly contains a significant number of hills, on which many of these structures are found. With the exception of one earthwork structure, now heavily overgrown and lacking definition, most of the structures survive in a reasonable state of preservation, albeit often in a poor state of repair. While the primary purpose of this report is to illustrate and describe the significance of these structures, and equally important purpose is to recommend practical ways in which there long term future can be preserved, wither by active conservation or by slowing the current rate of decline. The report was prepared by Howley Hayes Architects and is based on site surveys carried out in July and August 2013. 3 4 CONTENTS SUMMARY OF CONCLUSIONS 1.0 INTRODUCTION 2.0 TOWERS 3.0 GAZEBOS 4.0 EYECATCHERS 5.0 MISCELLANEOUS 6.0 CONCLUSIONS 5 SUMMARY OF CONCLUSIONS .

  • John Nelson Darby. Chapter One, Revised Version
In Way of Explanation I began the revision of my John Nelson Darby biography back in 2003 and part of the first chapter was posted on www.mybrethren.org in 2005 as well as my work in progress “Research Papers”. That site has been offline now since November 2017. To continue to make the material accessible to persons still interested Michael Schneider was so kind to post both my Research Papers and the revised first chap- ter on his website at www.bruederbewegung.de. He brought both items to- gether into one file and into the much more appealing format typical for his site. At the same he checked the validity of the hyperlinks to websites I had referred to in the texts and exchanged them where necessary. For this and other correc- tions I am very grateful to him. The present paper is a revision of the revised first chapter which was posted on the www.bruederbewegung.de site. I have added more material as well as illus- trations to it and Michael and I both thought it would be better to separate it from the Research Papers (they remain available as an extra file) as a standalone file. In doing so I have used a different format from that initially used by Michael, but thank him once again for his proofreading of the text. The present work is not one for commercial or profit purposes, but rather to make material available to other researchers. Nevertheless I have endeavored to obtain permission for all images used here where I was not sure if they are in the public domain or not.
