Training of Scientific Specialists

Training of scientiﬁc specialists Regular personnel and training of highly qualiﬁed scholars at Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences

1. The number of employees of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan as of November 1, 2014 was 4793 staﬀ-members, including 73 academicians, 281 doctors and 745 candidates of science, more than 2200 are researchers. The overall number more then 200 applicants of the Doctor of Sciences degrees are training now.

2. Certain work was accomplished by scientific institutions of AS RUz to prepare highly qualified scientific specialists, for the period between 2010 and 1st half of 2012, 41 doctors and 200 candidates of sciences were prepared. In addition, 26 scholars from foreign countries were trained in the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan on contracts and improved their scientific qualification.

3. In scientiﬁc establishments of AS RUz, 29 specialized councils for the defense of Doctor and Candidate’s degree theses were established and functioned. At the meetings of the specialized councils for the period between 2010 and 1st half of 2012, 71 theses for Doctor’s degree and 412 Candidate’s degree theses were defended by the researchers from the Academy of science of Uzbekistan, including 33 Doctor’s degree theses and 165 Candidate’s theses were defended by employees of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, as well as 38 Doctor’s degree theses and 247 Candidate’s degree theses were defended by oﬃcers from other ministries, agencies and organizations of the Republic, yet one scholar of China.

4. During the period between 2010 and 1st half of 2012, a number of leading scientists of AS RUz improved their scientiﬁc skills - 19 Doctors of Science were awarded the rank of Professor and 146 Candidates of Sciences were given the ranks of Docent (Associate Professor or Associate) and Senior Research Fellow.

In universities and research centers in a number of foreign countries for the period between 2010 and 1st half of 2012, 130 scientiﬁc staﬀ-members of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan were trained and improved their skills.
