EMPLOYMENT HISTORY 1. 2002 to Date: Started my university career as a Lecturer in the School of Environmental Studies at Kenyatta University. I am an associate professor in the School of Agriculture and Enterprise Development. That I am still in this University almost 20 years down the line is testimony to my being reliable and dependable for the enhancement of system stability. 2. 2001: Consulted for World Neighbours - East Africa (INGO) in Natural Resources Management and Community Development in Dryland Ecosystems in Kenya. The hands- on experience I gained continues to inform my teaching, research and mentoring roles. 3. 1995-1996: Agricultural Instructor at Limuru Girls Centre (Certificate Course for needy Girls). (The centre is currently the Starehe Girls High School). 4. 1993-1994: Worked as a Research Associated under Prof Donald Thomas in the Department of Agricultural Engineering, University of Nairobi and was co-author of the first student reader in the Department, entitled “Ecology, Environment and Sustainable Development: An Outline for Students of Land and Water Management in Kenya”. 4. ACHIEVEMENTS 1. 2017-2020: I am a member of a team that developed the first ever Manual/Guide for training newly appointed University Leaders in Kenya. Initiative of DAAD and Commission for University Education. 2. 24th – 27th April 2019: As a team member in module development and member of KDSA, I participated in the first pilot workshop on the training of university leaders (first cohort of Vice Chancellors) Courtesy DAAD-DIES NMT programme and the Commission for University Education, held at Lake Naivasha Simba Lodge, Kenya. 3. July 25th – 27th 2018: Participated in as a Trainer in the DAAD DIES-National Multiplication Training II of Deans and Directors on Quality Leadership and Management in Higher Education, Workshop held at MMUST Kakamega 4. 18th – 21st December 2017: Participated in a workshop as a Trainer in the DAAD DIES- National Multiplication Training I of Deans and Directors on Quality Leadership and Management: A Driver for Change in Higher Education, Workshop held at Karatina University. 5. 2008-2012: As chairman of Department, I steered the Department of Environmental Studies and Community Development into having the highest student enrolment in the faculty. I was the vision carrier and initiator of the first ever Book Project that sought to domesticate environmental issues through the series: “Environment and Sustainable Development”.
