Press Release HELLENIC REPUBLIC HELLENIC STATISTICAL AUTHORITY Piraeus, December 8, 2017 PRESS RELEASE ISSUING OF MOTOR VEHICLE LICENSES: NOVEMBER 2017 The Hellenic Statistical Authority announces that in November 2017, 12,219 road motor cars (both new and used from abroad) were put into circulation for the first time, recording a 16.1% increase compared with the corresponding month of 2016 when the number of road motor cars was 10,528. In November 2016, a 18.4% increase had been observed in comparison with the corresponding month of 2015 (Table 1, Graphs 1,2,3,5). A total number of 7,068 new cars were put into circulation in November 2017 compared with 6,439 in November 2016, recording a 9.8% increase. The new motorcycles (over 50cc) that were put into circulation for the first time in November 2017 amounted to 1,623, against 2,209 in 2016, thus recording a 26.5% decrease. In November 2016, a 16.4% increase had been observed in comparison with the corresponding month of 2015 (Table 1, Graph 4). Out of the above motorcycles 1,465 were new, while the corresponding figure in November 2016 was 2,035, recording a 28.0% decrease. During the period January - November 2017, 146,860 road motor cars (both new and used from abroad) were put into circulation for the first time, representing an increase of 21.1% compared to the corresponding period of 2016 when the number of road motor cars was 121,303. During the period January - November 2016 an increase of 13.7% had been observed in comparison with the corresponding period of 2015 (Table 3, Graphs 6,7). Out of the above number of road motor cars that were put into circulation, from January to November 2017, 89,266 were new, while the corresponding number during the respective period of 2016 was 79,702, recording an increase of 12.0%. During the period January - November 2017 the circulation of new motorcycles (over 50cc) amounted to 29,101 against 37,386 in 2016, thus representing a 22.2% decrease. An increase of 12.4% had been observed during the period January - November 2016 in comparison with the corresponding period of 2015 (Table 3, Graphs 6,7). A total number of 26,380 new motorcycles were put into circulation, from January to November 2017, compared with 34,864 during the corresponding period of 2016, recording a 24.3% decrease. In October 2016, a 20.0% increase had been observed in comparison with the corresponding month of 2015 (Table1, Graphs 1,2,3,5). A total number of 6,890 new cars were put into circulation in October 2017 compared with 5,485 in October 2016, recording a 25.6% increase. The new motorcycles (over 50cc) that were put into circulation for the first time in October 2017 amounted to 2,356, against 2,866 in 2016, thus recording a 17.8% decrease. In October 2016, a 12.7% increase had been observed in comparison with the corresponding month of 2015 (Table 1, Graph 4). Out of the above motorcycles 2,088 were new, while the corresponding figure in October 2016 was 2,683, recording a 22.2% decrease. During the period January - October 2017, 134,641 road motor cars (both new and used from abroad) were put into circulation for the first time, representing an increase of 21.5% compared to the corresponding period of 2016 when the number of road motor cars was 110,775. During the period January - October 2016 an increase of 13.3% had been observed in comparison with the corresponding period of 2015 (Table3, Graphs 6,7).
