If there is any blame for me doing that, please recognize that it is the Holy Spirit encouraging me to add and/or take away something in the content of my homily. This past weekend the examples I used to encourage and applaud Catholics (and all Chris ans) who accept Jesus' call for us to be "SERVANTS" like he was, was somewhat different from the Saturday Mass to the two Sunday Masses. On Saturday night I spoke about those who are serving the weak, the vulnerable and the dependent through par cipa on in the Arkansas Catholic Chari es Golf Tournament in memory of one of our previous bishops, Andrew J. FOOD BASKETS McDonald who was a golfer himself. So far, we have In Arkansas in 2018, 23.2 percent of volunteers from our parish who are taking on various children lived in homes that were tasks during the golf tournament, parishioners who “food insecure,” or lacking consistent are paying $85 to play in the tournament (with parish access to enough food for everyone in funds co-sponsoring them) and a commitment of the family to live ac ve, healthy lives. Feeding $5,000 as part of the social jus ce and charitable America es mates that percentage has jumped to outreach budgeted for the year. I men oned at the 32.3 percent in 2020 because of the health and Saturday Mass that our parish par cipa on in this economic emergency. According to Arkansas primary fundraiser for Catholic Chari es is such that it could rightly be called the Sacred Heart of Jesus Advocates for Children and Families, before Covid- Catholic Church Golf Tournament for Catholic 19, children that qualified received breakfast, lunch and a snack at school free or at a reduced price. With the start episcopate, including appoin ng my uncle, Fr. Joseph Biltz as the head of the Jus ce and Peace Office at the of a new school year, families are coun ng on the diocese). One last thing I would ask of you, our meals children receive at school to help them provide for the rest of the family. Our parish wants parishioners is your considera on to make a dona on (perhaps even a large one) to support this fundraising to help with this concern.
