Wieso aber kommt der Sound der vier Londonerinnen derart gut an? Die Popkulturindustrie basiert zu einem großen Teil auf dem Prinzip des Hypes. Savages versetzen zurzeit, wie kaum eine andere Band der vergangenen Jahre, die schreibende Zunft von Visions bis New York Times in einen Zustand aufgeregt-abgeklärter Verzückung. Kaum verwunderlich, man könnte sogar sagen folgerichtig, denn Savages sind eine Konzeptband – am Reißbrett entworfen, um genau denjenigen zu gefallen, die derzeit die Popkulturspalten der Feuilletons dominieren. In seiner Spex-Titelstory schreibt Torsten Groß, das Haus von Sängerin Jehnny Beth und ihrem Lebenspartner Johnny Hostile, der auch »Silence Yourself«, das erste Album der Band, mitproduziert hat, sei »vollgestopft mit genau den richtigen Büchern und Platten«. Groß weiß, wovon er spricht. Viele Redaktionen werden heute von Journalisten bevölkert, deren Jugend wohl durch die erklärten Vorbilder der Savages geprägt war: Bauhaus, Joy Division, Einstürzende Neubauten. Den gegenwärtigen Exponenten des Popjournalismus stellen sich Savages so als späte Möglichkeit dar, sich zumindest im Rückblick einer wild erscheinenden Jugend zu versichern. Für die etwas Jüngeren symbolisiert die Band das unglücklicherweise knapp Verpasste. Im deutschsprachigen Raum markierte Jürgen Teipels Buch »Verschwende deine Jugend« 2001 den Beginn einer Achtziger-Nostalgie, an die auch Savages mit ihrer Ästhetik anknüpfen. Seit rund zehn Jahren revivalt alles, was mal Punk war, daraus geworden ist und für gewöhnlich unter dem Label Post-Punk zusammengefasst wird.

El festival ha comptat al llarg de la seva trajectòria amb propostes dels més diversos colors i estils. Així ho demostren els artistes que durant aquests deu anys han desfilat pels seus escenaris: de Pixies a Aphex Twin, passant per Neil Young,Sonic Youth, Portishead, Pet Shop Boys, Pavement, Yo la tengo, Lou Reed, My Bloody Valentine, El-P, Pulp, Patti Smith, James Blake, Arcade Fire, Public Enemy, Grinderman, Television, Devo, Enrique Morente, The White Stripes, Wil- co, Tindersticks, PJ Harvey, Shellac, Dinosaur Jr., New Order, Surfin’ Bichos, Fuck Buttons, Melvins, The National, Psychic TV o Spiritualized, entre molts d’altres. REPERCUSSIÓ D’EDICIONS ANTERIORS Any rere any, el festival San Miguel Primavera Sound ha anat incrementant tant l’assistència de públic com la re- percussió als principals mitjans de premsa, ràdio i televisió. Si la primera edició va tancar amb una assistència de 8.000 persones, la del 2002 va arribar a 18.000 i la de 2003 va reunir entre els seus espais a més de 24.000 persones, l’assistència de 40.000 persones a l’any 2004 va significar un punt i apart i el festival va abandonar el Poble Espanyol.

The mixtape caught the attention of Kanye West and led to Cudi’s signing to the G.O.O.D. Music Label. The album’s first single is Day ‘N’ Nite, and is Kid Cudi’s greatest commercial success, the song charting well both in the USA and internationally and has sold over one million copies in the US alone. In June 2009, Kid Cudi released the single, Make Her Say (originally titled “I Poke Her Face”), which features Kanye West and Common, plus a clever sample of Lady Gaga’s hit single Kid Cudi was born in Cleveland, Ohio and lived in the diverse Poker Face.     CD Review: Jimmy Adler’s Grease Alley By day, Pittsburgh’s James Addlespurger is a mild-mannered educator at a high school for the creative and performing arts. Armed with chalk and curriculum, he molds impressionable young minds into fine, creative citizens, poised to take on the world. One could argue that his day job is literally doing God’s work. However, when the clock strikes nighttime, Pittsburgh’s mild-mannered James Addespurger trades in his chalk for a telecaster and transforms into East Coast bluesman Jimmy Adler. The work he does in the midnight hour strictly belongs to the deep dark blues. And throughout the 13 original tracks on his latest CD release, Grease Alley, Adler proves he’s schooled in far more than one musical discipline when it comes to high-quality swinging rhythm and blues. The sad truth is that there is a gulf-sized distance between the numerous mediocre bands that fancy themselves blues performers and those chosen few that are true purveyors of this great American musical art-form. Jimmy Adler clearly finds himself in the latter category, with this homage to the idiom serving as documented proof. From the opening track “Say It Like Magic Sam,” Adler and company school the listener in what a shuffle groove is all about. With an oooh-so-sneaky and laid-back rhythm section courtesy of drummer June Core (formerly with Charlie Musselwhite), as well as bassist and producer of Grease Alley Norwegian-born Kid Anderson, Jimmy Adler lays out his mission statement with ample T-Bone Walker-inspired guitar licks, and a vocal styling second only to James Montgomery in cool.

The "electroclash" movement was basically a revival of the dance-punk style of the new wave. It was New York dj Lawrence "Larry Tee" who coined the term, and the first Electroclash Festival was held in that city in 2001. However, the movement had its origins on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. One could argue that electroclash was born with Space Invaders Are Smoking Grass (1997), released by Belgian dj Ferenc van der Sluijs under the moniker I-f. At about the same time German house dj Helmut-Josef "DJ Hell" Geier was promoting a scene in Berlin that was basically electroclash. Another forerunner was French dj Caroline "Miss Kittin" Herve', who had recorded the EP Champagne (1998), a collaboration with Michael "The Hacker" Amato that included the pioneering hit 1982. The duo joined the fad that they had pioneered with First Album (2001). Britain was first exposed to electroclash when Liverpool's Ladytron released He Took Her To A Movie (1999), that was basically a cover of Kraftwerk's The Model. Next came Liverpool's Robots In Disguise with the EP Mix Up Words and Sounds (2000).
