    La COPPA della TOSCANA una corsa nata dall’orgoglio INTRODUZIONE Erano gli anni del dopoguerra, il cammino della ricostruzione era appena iniziato e già si pensava a far rinascere una delle più celebri corse automobilistiche su strada, la Mille Miglia. La prima edizione del dopoguerra, nel 1947, fu un miracolo di entusiasmo e di ingegno degli organizzatori e dei partecipanti che si trovarono a lottare con le condizioni disastrose del percorso e la carenza di tutto, dalle gomme alla benzina. Fu comunque l’inizio. Il percorso della Mille Miglia del 1947, come quella della edizione successiva, ripercorse l’anello tradizionale, transitando naturalmente da Firenze, per la gioia degli appassionati che accoglievano entusiasticamente gli idoli locali. E fu proprio Clemente Biondetti, sardo di nascita ma Fiorentino d’adozione, il vincitore delle prime due edizioni del dopoguerra. Proprio la speranza di poter festeggiare Biondetti anche nella edizione del 1949 rese ancor più cocente la delusione nel “Granducato” nell’apprendere, sfogliando il programma della corsa, che il tracciato non avrebbe toccato Firenze. Anzi, quasi per dispetto, la Mille Miglia avrebbe deviato da Parma per la Cisa in direzione Versilia, tagliando fuori una bella fetta del percorso storico dove gli appassionati Toscani attendevano con ansia di veder sfrecciare i bolidi. Così non poteva finire! Si dissero gli appassionati toscani che, spronati dalla AC di Firenze, organizzarono una corsa “alternativa”, come si direbbe oggi, che fu orgogliosamente chiamata “Coppa Della Toscana”. E’ noto che mettere d’accordo la gente di Toscana non è cosa mai agevole ed il vulcanico direttore dello AC Firenze, Amos Pampaloni, non ebbe certo vita facile nel trovare una punto di convergenza tra i vari AC delle città coinvolte nell’organizzazione e nella gestione delle complesse pratiche burocratiche della corsa.

    Collector cars; childhood dream or sound investment opportunity? -hedonic regression analysis of the collector car market- [The main question of this study is whether collector cars can be considered as a viable investment opportunity. In order to answer that question, first this study tries to identify the relevant variables that determine sale prices of collector cars at auctions. Second, it creates a price index on collector cars through hedonic regression analysis on data from 1,200 cars sold on auction between 1996 and 2011. Ultimately it will compare the resulting collector car index with indices on other assets and look at the potential of collector cars to be part of investment portfolios to answer the main question. The Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa’s 18th fairway was the perfect setting for the Concours. Over 125 gorgeous prancing horses were judged in all their glory. The mountains, palm trees and perfectly manicured grass accentuated the beauty of the Ferraris. There were a record number of Platinum winners that moved onto the Coppa Bella Macchina competition. I was so very pleased that several of our members said they were inspired to show their cars because of the message I wrote many months ago encouraging them to do so. The Rallies were also a big hit with the attendees. I had several reports that the routes chosen were some of the prettiest scenic drives ever! The Chuckwalla Valley Raceway was a blast! 2.67 miles of testing your skills of handling your Bella Macchina on 17 turns with elevations and off camber maneuvers.

    SPECIAL EVENT : 2007 COPPERSTATE 1000 Seventeenth Annual Copperstate 1000 Road Rally THE GREAT AMERICAN CAR REVIVAL WORDS AND PHOTOGRAPHY BY HOWARD KOBY or 17 years the Men’s Art Council of the Phoenix Art Museum has been F giving vintage car enthusiasts the opportunity to exercise their machinery while enjoying some of the best scenery in the Southwest. On April 14, 2007, two car shows united at Tempe Diablo Stadium (home of spring training for the Los Angeles Angels baseball team). The Concorso Arizona, celebrating 60 years of Ferrari, was held in conjunction with the sendoff of the Copperstate 1000 Road Rally. Ferrari Club of America’s Concorso lined the field of the stadium with 120 exotic Italian vehicles. Concorso Arizona is the largest Ferrari gathering in Arizona and is the only IFC/PCA judged event in the state. Ferrari, Lamborghini, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Maserati, and Alfa Romeo owners were invited from around the country to proudly display their treasures in a “Field of Dreams” setting. Some lesser-known names such as Allard, Kurtis and Frazier-Nash added to the wide-range of cars on display. While the key purpose for many of these car shows is raising money for worthy charities like the Ronald McDonald House and the Phoenix Art Museum, having a good time is also part of the package.
