Artist: Carl Craig Title: Detroit Love Vol. 2 Label: Detroit Love Release Date: 17 May 2019 Cat #: PEDL002LP/ PEDL002CD / PEDL002D Format: Vinyl, CD & Digital Artist: Carl Craig Title: Detroit Love Vol. 2 Label: Detroit Love Release date: 17 May 2019 Cat #: PEDL002LP/ PEDL002CD / PEDL002D Format: Vinyl, CD & Digital Detroit Love present the second release on their eponymous imprint – a collaborative venture from Planet E and !K7 that aims to capture the essence of Carl Craig’s beloved event series. Following last year’s inaugural mix from Stacey Pullen, the second entry has been skillfully assembled by Carl Craig himself. Across a hazy, funk-driven voyage, he delves into the spirit of his hometown, championing the past and future of the motor city into an expertly curated mix. With a blend of 90s gems and brand new exclusives, Carl’s track selections forge an atemporal vision of quintessential Detroit music. Included in the mix are two rare, early 90s classics from Ectomorph and Rhythm Is Rhythm, neither of which have been reissued on vinyl for decades, in addition to a 2015 collaboration from Carl Craig and Green Velvet, never before released on wax. New material comes in the form of an exclusive C2 edit of DJ Minx, another exclusive from Claude VonStroke, tracks from TV Lounge affiliates Ataxia and Mister Joshooa and unheard music from Matthew Dear under his new Brain alias, to name a few. Whilst Carl's name might be stamped on the mix, Detroit itself takes centre stage. The number of exclusive tracks reflects his commitment to crafting a unique listening experience, but the spirit of the city shines through in the diversity of his selections, which range from modern classical crossovers to American garage rock via a healthy dose of soul-drenched house and techno. Carl launched the Detroit Love parties in 2014 as a way of representing the city’s heritage across the globe. Extending this mission to the label, Detroit Love Mixed By Carl Craig is an impassioned homage to the musical legacy of his hometown. www.tailored-communication.com I [email protected] Continuous Mix Tracklist: 1. • Petar Dundov: Biography
Petar Dundov: biography What is techno? Scientists and philosophers have long since pondered the concept of its musical definition since it burst out of Detroit in the mid-‘80s. Is it that notion of the “ghost in the machine”, of soul from electronics that its inventors elicited? Or is it more the repetitive throb and thump of 4/4 beats and slow-burning momentum that the Berghain generation are proponents of? Croatian producer Petar Dundov’s stunning music manages to marry both ideals in the most explosive of fashions. To Dundov, “techno is music that precedes movement. It is dance music, solid enough to carry emotions through the dance floor and abstract enough to be a template for ever”. And indeed his breathtaking productions embody this ethos, serving the inherent function of making your body pulse spontaneously while also challenging your brain with its complex melodies and slow-burning, hypnotic progressions. It’s the antidote for anyone who thinks that techno is about senseless, dull looping. Although maybe the word “techno” doesn’t give enough detail about his style, it’s probably the nearest ballpark to whose principles his music adheres – and he is keen to expand the horizons of what people know and expect of the genre. But it’s that sense of his tracks being alive, forever evolving and expanding and increasing in intensity, which gives his music its unique sound and has seen his work crossover into a myriad of different areas of the global electronic music scene. The last two years have seen his mind-bending single Oasis (played by everyone from Dubfire to Sasha to Ben Klock to Prins Thomas to Timo Maas) take the scene by storm with its intricate, ever-changing melodies, John Digweed snap him up for an epic rework of Alan Fitzpatrick’s Reflections, and Gregor Tresher squeeze a deep, mesmerising remix of his track The Life Wire out of him.

  • GREEN VELVET This Music Industry Legend, Trailblazer, and Currently
GREEN VELVET This music industry legend, trailblazer, and currently one of the hottest DJ’s and producers on the underground electronic music scene...Green Velvet… came into existence more than 25 years ago. In 1993 Green Velvet launched Relief Records and since that time has been a constant presence in the industry. When this very eccentric, green Mohawk wearing Green Velvet emerged, he sent shock waves throughout the House and Techno music scenes. What was even more intriguing was his background. Born in the southern suburbs of Chicago, IL he has always been an active athlete and focused student determined to follow his dream of becoming a chemical engineer. While he excelled scholastically he was socially introverted, but always committed to finding ways to share his enthusiasm for living. Following in his father’s footsteps, he began DJ-ing while attending undergraduate school at the University of Illinois and later graduate school at U of C Berkley. Until one day, he realized that while his dream was to become a chemical engineer…his passion…his God given talent was to pursue life in the music industry. That passion and commitment led him back to his hometown, and clearly kept Chicago on the House Music map. Even today, more than 25 years later…it is difficult to go to any electronic music festival or set and not hear music from Green Velvet/Relief Records. Crowds everywhere sing along when notable hits like: Bigger than Prince, Flash, La La Land, Lazer Beams, Live Stream, Preacher Man, Shake and Pop, Sheeple, Suga, and Voicemail, are blasting across the airwaves.

  • Family Horrors and Hidden Paradises: New Album Reviews
Family Horrors And Hidden Paradises: New Album Reviews Music | Bittles’ Magazine: The music column from the end of the world There are so many excellent new albums around right now that, this week, I hardly know where to begin. We have house magnificence from Demuja and Kann, gorgeously deep ambiance from Gas, the leftfield techno brilliance of Jon Hopkins, Forest Swords, Max Cooper and Aïsha Devi and lots more. By JOHN BITTLES So, tell your piggy bank to make peace with its maker, and let us begin… Jon Hopkins‚ Immunity LP was close to ubiquitous in 2013, rightly appearing in most Best Of lists for that year. While the follow-up was a long time coming the good news is that it is every bit as good. Released at the start of May, Singularity contains the same mixture of techno crunch, ambient interludes and emotional resonance which Jon’s long term fans have come to expect. The title track gets things off to a great start, stuttering beats joined by trance like synths on a song sure to have any self-respecting raver resembling one of Pavlov’s dogs. Next, lead single Emerald Rush begins all soft and tranquil before bursting into life with some mind mangling bass stabs. Other picks include the epic trance groover Neon Pattern Drum which resembles the highlight of a Paul Van Dyk set, the melancholic clanks of Everything Connected, the tranquil piano refrain Echo Dissolve and the light and airy house strains of Luminous Beings. Full of peaks and troughs, Singularity gives the listener a proper journey filled with high drama and a sense of loss when it comes to an end.

  • TONY H Bringing the Last Frontier Some Much Needed FIRE [Featured
TONY H bringing the Last Frontier some much needed FIRE [Featured Interview] Alaska has been called the last frontier, but what if I told you it’s the new frontier for up and coming DJ’s in the EDM scene? I spoke with an Anchorage local DJ and record label “Late Night Munchies” creator TONY H, about becoming a pioneer in the budding Alaska EDM scene. With an EP rising on the Beatport charts as of this week, we’re all curious to see where this hard working magician of sound goes to next. So TONY, how did it all start for you? Basically it all started back home in Panama. I was working at the front desk at a hostel called Luna’s Castle, and I would always play music for the guests upstairs. Once my boss finished building the bar under the hostel, he offered me one of the slower nights which was a Wednesday to basically dj for the guests. Once it got busier I basically combined my night job which was being a club promoter for all the major clubs in Panama and Djing. I hosted and DJ’d a college night Wednesdays at the bar which is called Relic. So has Panama always been home? And how did you find your way to Alaska? I am originally from Louisiana, but I was raised in Panama City, Panama. While my dad was transitioning from active duty to retired military, he ended up getting stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. I needed to save money for bills and such, so I ended up moving in with my family.
