THE BOB CATS NEWSLETTER FEBRUARY 26, 2016. CELEBRATING THE ART AND THE MANY LIVES OF . ESTABLISHED 2006 BY PETER HOLST • 9th year and running. HTTPS://THEBOBCATSNEWSLETTER.WORDPRESS.COM

Welcome to another edition of the Bob Cats Newsletter. It's night time in the big city and a tall stranger steps down from the train, puts his suitcase down as the train leaves the station with a red light on behind. He walks across the tracks, passing the station house, traverses the park unto Main Street. A street car named Lafitte passes by filled to the brim with drunken football fans bawling and belching their way to the city dump. The trees in the avenue, wrapped in lights casting dotted silhouetts against the dark winter night. The stranger signs in at the Shangri-La boarding house in the alley behind the beauty parlor by the name of Paul Scheffler. Yoshiko Kawashima, the receptionist in a chignon and pyjamas, is not allowed to touch his suitcase. Thea von Harbou, promotor extra ordinaire of modern art and life in the fast lane, unruly redhead in a thin black suit is having cocktails with Maximilian de Staël, artist; acrylic and oxides, torn Shetland wool and corduroy in the Oak Room of the the Saint James Hotel, mellow, atavistic smalltalk. The flickering lights on a loft afar is turned off by a stranger’s hand. THE RUMOR. Bob Dylan's next album is called "Fallen Angels." Four-song 7" is coming out for Japanese tour and Record Store Day. Side A: Melancholy Mood, All or Nothing at All. Side B: Come Rain or Come Shine, That Old Black Magic. from Jim Nichols, Norbert Krapf (no denial or confirmation). FLASHES FROM THE PAST It's the last day's last hour Something came up Of the last happy year Out of the sea I feel that the unknown world is so near Swept through the land of The rich and the free Pride will vanish And glory will rot I look into the eyes But virtue lives Of my merciful friend And cannot be forgot And then I ask myself Is this the end? The bells Of evening have rung Memories linger There's blasphemy on every tongue Sad yet sweet And I think of the souls Let them say that I walked In heaven who will meet In fair nature's light And that I was loyal Alters are burning To truth and to right The flames far and wide The foe has crossed over Serve God and be cheerful From the other side Look upward beyond Beyond the darkness that masks They tip their caps The surprises of dawn From the top of the hill You can feel them come In the deep green grasses More brave blood do spill And the blood stained woods They never dreamed of surrendering Along the dim They fell where they stood Atlantic line The ravaged land Stars fell over Alabama Lasts for miles behind I saw each star You're walking in dreams The lights coming forward Whoever you are And the streets are broad All must yield Chilled are the skies To the avenging God Keen is the frost The ground's froze hard The world is old And the morning is lost The world is grey Lessons of life A letter to mother Can't be learned in a day Came today Gunshot wound to the breast I watch and I wait Is what it did say And I listen while I stand To the music that comes But he'll be better soon From a far better land He's in a hospital bed But he'll never be better Close the eyes of our captain He's already dead Peace may he know His long night is done I'm ten miles outside the city The great leader is laid low And I'm lifted away In an ancient light He was ready to fall That is not of day He was quick to defend Killed outright he was They were calm, they were blunt By his own men We knew them all too well We loved each other more than We ever dared to tell
