What Sets Us Apart

Students appreciate our small class sizes, individual support, and safe and caring environment. We focus on providing academic, social and employability skills for success in the 21st century. We provide "hands on " project based learning so the students see the connection between classroom and world of work. For students who arrive at Eastdale behind in their credit accumulation we offer both Credit Rescue and Credit Recovery so students can catch up on their credits. An accepting and positive atmoshere encourages students who previously might not have been successful in school.

Eastdale has an 11000 square foot RoofTop which, through a partnership with FoodShare, might become one of the best "green" spaces in Toronto. Construction will hopefully begin in February 2013 to turn the space into a garden for fruits and vegetables, with an outdoor class for Environmental Studies and Green Industries course, catering kitchen, and outdoor cafe. Food grown on the RoofTop by students will be used in the Hospitality Program and also sold to community markets and other schools.

Parent and Community Engagement

Community partnerships: Eastdale's focus on Literacy is supported by a partnership with Frontier College and Ryerson who provide tutors in the classrooms. A partnership with FoodShare affords Eastdale students with many learning opportunities both on the RoofTop and through Community Service. OISE and York University both place student teachers at Eastdale and George Brown College provides us with student CYW's. Ongoing good relationships with local businesses, schools and community agencies support our Co-Operative Education Program. Pathways to Education Program - A community program to support students from the Regent Park and Moss Park communities through mentoring, tutoring and other supports. School Council - Meeting a minimum of 4 times a year, information sharing and theme based meeting responding to the needs of Eastdale Parents and Guardians. TDSB - Better Schools. Brighter Futures

Imagine a TDSB where all schools share a common core set of characteristics. They are community-driven and focused on teaching and learning. Students and parents have a wide variety of opportunities and there are enough students in every school to increase program choices.

Imagine there is a clear focus on achieving student success and every student is engaged, has a voice, access to a caring adult and the opportunity to develop their full potential.

Here at the TDSB our focus is on student achievement, parent and community engagement and financial stability.
