Muslim scholars since ‘Abduh had been looking for the ample approach to accommodate the modern thoughts within the boundaries of Islamic teachings resulting in notions such as Islamisation and its alternatives. Although the real measurement for success of such approaches in addressing the gap between the Islamic world and the West has not been duly agreed upon, the echoes of the calls from scholars to continue marching have been resonating well within the Islamic scholarly circles. The current book is an evidence of this continuous enthusiasm among the Muslim academia. The first aspect is Islamicization; an alternative term proposed by Prof. Mohd. Kamal Hasan to reconceptualize Islamisation to include the production of Muslim scholars and not limiting the process only to human knowledge. A prominent feature of the articles carrying this theme is the effort of integrating the various field of knowledge with the Islamic perspective. The use of information technology in teaching Islamic discipline, exploring Islamic pedagogical aspect in teaching science subjects, applying new discipline such as hospitality to develop some Islamic friendly tourism activities x Preface and the perspectives of students on a newly developed Islamic content of textbook on physics are among the activities of the continuous Islamicization project. The application of Islamic perspectives on other disciplines includes political science and art. The development of an ʽAqīdah compliance index is one of those efforts to continue applying quantitative approach on the basic aspects of the religion. The reinterpretation of traditional concept under the new light is yet another aspect of this project. Traditional views are put into new context and use such as in the effort to benefit from the Sīrah to look for techniques to empower youth. The concept of happiness in Islam is also discussed as an alternative for the modern paradigm. Undoubtedly, all these efforts serve as an indicator to the lively undertakings which are overwhelmingly happening in the Islamic academia with the noble objectives to integrate, accommodate and include Islamic perspectives in the branches of knowledge. Nonetheless, the Islamicization process is notably varied across the various branches of human knowledge ranging from the basic contextualization of certain discipline within the quotes from Islamic resources to the serious application on concept and its integration within other disciplines. Interestingly, there are several articles that deal with the problematic conceptual framework of Islamicization which further confirms the on-going debate about the concept. Albeit this, generally it is noticeable that the efforts of academics to integrate and contextualize depends on the nature of the disciplines; in pure sciences, the locus is mostly pedagogical, while in human sciences discipline the effort has wide arrays of application and integration modes. x Preface Preface xi Rejuvenating Islamic Thought and Civilization is best exemplified in the aspect of education. Without the integration of the revealed knowledge and human sciences, Islamic perspective will remain an alien approach. With the on-going efforts, it has shifted to become an alternative paradigm for the academic to explore new explanation and renewed perspective. Consequently, it is hoped that it will become the leading paradigm, at least in the Muslim world. In education, new application of the traditional Islamic disciplines on modern issues need to be explored. The discipline of exegesis (tafsīr) for example, is rich with perspectives for the study of language or linguistics. The layers of meaning and the richness of context of the Quranic verses are of great resource to linguists to understand textuality and pragmatics. The discipline of Uṣūl al-Fiqh would make great contribution in the field of management as it offers analytical tool for decision making. In the field of education, the reinterpretation of the teaching and educating methods of the prophets is essential to produce agent of change in society. In politics, the Prophet had set an outstanding example of succession plan that should be an interesting focus for human resource management expert. With the contribution of this book, it is hoped that it will continue to set new frontiers in the efforts to rejuvenate and keep alive the Islamic perspective in order to make it continuously relevant to contemporary issues. The participants consist of both domestic and foreigners including from the Middle East. "We don't have the money, so I told him to enrol in Form Six first," Nordin, a 45-year-old father of three, said. NONEHe is probably among parents whom Pakatan Rakyat are targeting in its promise to make tertiary education free for all Malaysians. However, this promise is not winning him over. For Nordin (right), who lives in Kampung Kinasaraban in Kota Belud, some 60km from Kota Kinabalu, other concerns, such as running water, are more pressing. "The BN government had just started a project so that we can get running water... "If the opposition party wins in my area, then I believe the project will be stopped. How much longer will we then have to wait for running water?" he asked. Nordin will vote in the state constituency of Kadamaian, one of three in the parliamentary seats under Kota Belud where Sabah BN secretary and incumbent Abdul Rahman Dahlan is taking on four others, including PKR greenhorn Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis.     Controlled Mosaic of Enceladus Hamah Sulci Se 400K 43.5/315 CMN, 2018 GENERAL NOTES 66° 360° West This map sheet is the 5th of a 15-quadrangle series covering the entire surface of Enceladus at a 66° nominal scale of 1: 400 000. This map series is the third version of the Enceladus atlas and 1 270° West supersedes the release from 2010 . The source of map data was the Cassini imaging experiment (Porco et al., 2004)2. Cassini-Huygens is a joint NASA/ESA/ASI mission to explore the Saturnian 350° system. The Cassini spacecraft is the first spacecraft studying the Saturnian system of rings and 280° moons from orbit; it entered Saturnian orbit on July 1st, 2004. The Cassini orbiter has 12 instruments. One of them is the Cassini Imaging Science Subsystem 340° (ISS), consisting of two framing cameras. The narrow angle camera is a reflecting telescope with 290° a focal length of 2000 mm and a field of view of 0.35 degrees. The wide angle camera is a refractor Samad with a focal length of 200 mm and a field of view of 3.5 degrees. Each camera is equipped with a 330° 300° large number of spectral filters which, taken together, span the electromagnetic spectrum from 0.2 60° 320° 310° to 1.1 micrometers. At the heart of each camera is a charged coupled device (CCD) detector 60° consisting of a 1024 square array of pixels, each 12 microns on a side. It suggests that blogs perform three main functions, which help make a democracy more meaningful: blogs as fifth estate, blogs as networks, and blogs as platform for expression. First, blogs function as the fifth estate performing checks-and-balances over the government. This function is expressed by blogs’ role in the dissemination of information, providing alternative perspectives that challenge the dominant frame, and setting of news agenda. The second function of blogs is that they perform as networks. This is linked to the social-networking aspect of the blogosphere both online and offline. Blogs also have the potential to act as mobilizing agents. The mobilizing capability of blogs facilitated the mass street protests, which took place in late- 2007 and early-2008 in Malaysia.

You can’t live in a rising share market. You can’t give your kids a better life because your company’s C.E.O. was able to give himself a big raise. When rubber-meets-road, it has been argued that a better way to measure whether the economy is working for the mass of Malaysians is not GDP but household income. [1] To the average Malaysian, what matters most is how much money is going into their pockets and what they can buy with that money. It has been reported on 10 Oct 2017 that the minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Abdul Rahman Dahlan quoting the Report of Household Income and Basic Amenities Survey 2016 released by the Statistics Department, claimed that the report showed rising household income, declining incidence of poverty and decreasing income inequality under the BN government. “This debunks the popular notion that income in Malaysia is stagnant or income increment does not match the rising prices of goods and services,” Rahman, who is also BN strategic communications director, said in a statement.     The Malaysian Bar vs. The Attorney General of Malaysia & The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission: The Moment the Malaysian Bar Stood Up for the Key Institutions of State _________________________________________________________ On the 14th of March 2016, the Malaysian Bar filed a landmark challenge in the High Court of Malaya. The challenge was the first of its kind in recorded legal history. The Bar did not derive any pecuniary benefit from the action. It was a suit filed to protect the independence and integrity of key institutions of state during what was a difficult period in the country. This is the story of the Malaysian Bar’s judicial review application against the decision of the then Attorney General of Malaysia not to institute a criminal prosecution against the then Prime Minister and, further, the direction to the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission of Malaysia (“the MACC”) to cease its investigations into the transfer of funds into the said Prime Minister’s personal bank accounts. The team that represented the Malaysian Bar was led by two doyens of the profession: Tommy Thomas and Dato’ Ambiga Sreenevasan. Their appearance for the Bar was befitting of the brief. Never before had a Bar Association filed a court action to challenge the exercise of the prosecutorial powers of the state’s chief prosecuting officer. The judicial review was filed against the backdrop of an unprecedented international financial scandal which placed Malaysia at the centre of global attention. At the heart of the saga was a Malaysian company named 1Malaysia Development Berhad (“1MDB”). 1MDB was incorporated as a state investment fund for the purposes of transforming Malaysia into a financial hub.
