BRIDGEND COUNCIL (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ORDER) (A48 NEAR ROUNDABOUT TOWARDS STORMY DOWN) ORDER 2016 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) have made an Order which will temporarily reduce the speed limit to 30mph on those sections of roads set out in the Schedule to this Notice. The Order is necessary due to lane closures associated with service installation works on the A48 Pyle Roundabout to Stormy Down and is in the interest of public safety. The Order will come into force on the 11th September 2016 and it is anticipated will be operative between the hours of 08.00am and 17.00 on the 11th September 2016 and between the hours of 08.00am and 17.00 on the 18th September 2016, and will continue in force for a period of eighteen months or until the works are completed whichever is the sooner. An exemption to the Order will apply to an exempted vehicle as defined below. The restriction shall however only apply at such time and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs prescribed by The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016. In this order: “exempted vehicle” means: (a) any vehicle being used by the emergency services for the purposes described in section 87 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (1); (b) any vehicle being used for naval, military or air force purposes, and being driven by a person for the time being subject to the orders of the member of the armed forces of the Crown, who is a member of the special forces- (i) in response, or for practice in responding, to a national security emergency by a person who has been trained in driving at high speeds: or (ii) for the purposes of training a person in driving vehicles at high speeds. “special forces” means those units of the armed forces the maintenance of whose capabilities is the responsibility of the Director of Special Forces or which are for the time being subject to the operational command of that Director.

A48 Pyle to Stormy Down, in an easterly direction, from the eastbound exit off Pyle roundabout, for a distance of approximately 1371 metres, to the start of the grass verge central island towards Stormy Down.

A48 Pyle to Stormy Down, in a westerly direction, from the end of the grass verge central island (travelling from Stormy Down), for a distance of approximately 1271 metres, to the speed limit derestriction signs approximately 90 metres prior to the Pyle roundabout.
