It was for the first time in the history of the Sabha that the actively participated in the celebrations. Lt. Gen. Vishwambhar Singh, AVSM, VSM, General Officer Commanding, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa Area presided over the function. The programme was marked by patriotic fervor, emotions and a never before experienced tribute for the martyrs. The National Flag was hoisted by Col. Devendra Kumar Bhandari (Retd.), the decorated war veteran of the Battle of Basanthar (1971) (Operation Cactus Lillee) while commanding 64AD BTY/45 Air Defence regiment. The army band played the national anthem while the NCC of SIES College of Arts, Science & Commerce gave the traditional salaami.
