his year, Indian tunes were the Tflavour of Beating the Retreat ceremony, on January 29, 2018. As many as 26 performances on the historic Vijay Chowk enthralled the spectators with captivating and foot- tapping music of the bands from the Army, the Navy, the Air Force and the State Police and Central Armed Police Force (CAPF). aksha Mantri Smt Nirmala RSitharaman gave away Republic Day Parade 2018 best contingent and tableau awards at Rashtriya Rangshala Camp, Cariappa Parade Ground, Delhi Cantt on January 28, 2018. Among the Three Services, Contingent was awarded the best marching contingent. Indo-Tibetan Border Police was awarded the best marching contingent among the -military and other auxiliary forces. A total of 23 tableaux, out Raksha Mantri presenting the award for the best tableau to tableau depicting of which 14 from States & Union coronation of Chhatrapati Maharaj. he Raksha Mantri Smt Nirmala TSitharaman visited the Naval Units, INS Parundu and INS Kattabomman in South on January 31, 2018. INS Parundu Naval Air Station is located near in . On her visit to INS Parundu the Raksha Mantri was received by Karmbir Singh Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, and Kuldeep H Tankasle, Commanding Officer, INS Parundu. The Minister was briefed on the activities of INS Parundu and interacted with Officer and Sailors of INS Parundu. Later the Raksha Mantri accompanied by Vice Admiral Karambir Singh visited INS Kattabomman in Tirunelveli district and was briefed on the activities of the unit by Capt Vishal Gupta, the Commanding Officer. February 16-28, 2018 Sainik Samachar 9 Visit of Raksha Mantri to 14 Corps Zone

he Raksha Mantri, Smt Nirmala Sitharaman arrived Tat Thoise on February 3, 2018. She was briefed on the operational preparedness of the forward Areas, following which she visited the highest post in Daulat Beg Oldie (DBO) sector and Chushul along the Indo- China border in Eastern and interacted with the troops. This was the first ever visit of Raksha Mantri to DBO sector and to one of the highest posts in Eastern Ladakh. She was flown in an Army Aviation ALH helicopter. Lt Gen D Anbu, Army Commander and Corps Commander of the Ladakh Corps accompanied her during the visit. While interacting with the troops the Raksha Mantri complimented them for their steadfastness and dedication despite the harsh climate and terrain. The four-storied Transit Facility (Sainik Aramghar) with a built up area of 5629 Sqm is being constructed at a cost of Rs 9.4 Crores. The work is in advanced stage of completion and is a fine example of civil-military cooperation. This will provide transit facility at Secunderabad Railway station to soldiers, ex-servicemen and their families in the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Later both the Generals visited the renovated ECHS polyclinic, Secunderabad that had undergone a major facelift since its inauguration. The main event was held at Army Dental Corps (Research & Referral), Delhi Cantt where Director General Dental Services (DGDS) and Col Commandant, Army Dental Corps Lt General TK Bandyopadhyay inaugurated a museum on Military Dentistry depicting the heritage of the Corps in all aspects in its service to the nation.
