  • Art and Design, Dialogue with Materials
PRESS RELEASE November 6, 2017 Art and Design, dialogue with materials As one part of the creative process, artists choose their materials, so as to be able to demonstrate their craft and express what they wish to express. The selection of materials is an important aspect of the design process, as well. When materials and processing techniques are combined, new value is created. Having a face-to-face dialogue with materials is an essential part of the process of creating objects. At this exhibition, we will offer an introduction to the world of design through four sections that will focus on materials ― from wood, to metal, to high-tech materials ― and how they have transformed. The sections are called “Art and Materials,” “Innovation and Materials,” “An Introduction to Materials,” and “Installations: Bringing Art and Design Together.” Here at the Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art and Design, where the building itself embodies the allure of materials such as wood, aluminum, and glass, we are creating a place where visitors can have encounters with art and design through dialogue with materials. And there will be held INTERNATIONAL HOKURIKU KOGEI SUMMIT “WORLDS KOGEI (artisan crafts) 100” Exhibition on same period at 2F exhibition room 2. What are the best uses for limited natural resources? How can the media help leave behind a beautiful world for future generations? Since the creation of the NTV Eco Committee in March 2003, we have engaged in environmental protection initiatives through NTV programs, events, PR, publicity and IR activities, sales and internal activities. In August 2005, we formulated the NTV environmental management system (EMS), and in November 2005, the Shiodome NTV Tower (Minato-ku, Tokyo) was awarded ISO 14001:2004 certification—the international standard for such systems. This achievement marked the first time that a key commercial broadcaster in Tokyo received certification on a companywide basis. Human society will continue to grow and develop. To protect the environment that sustains our lives, NTV is committed to communicating the importance of environmental conservation through its programs and events. NTV’s Basic Policy on Sustainability Preventing the destruction of the environment is This policy targets the three key areas of financial, the central global issue of this century.
