Cette thèse propose d’analyser l’émergence de cette entité régionale et de son discours culturel dans le but de pallier le manque de recherches antérieures sur la diversité socioculturelle et le régionalisme au Japon. Il y existe, d’une part, une volonté de considérer le Japon comme une entité homogène, et d’autre part, un contexte dans lequel le Japon lui-même prône l’homogénéité de son peuple. Historiquement, ces énoncés ont été réfutés à plusieurs reprises par différents chercheurs et organismes. Entre-temps, sur le plan régional, la diversité devient de moins en moins clairement observable dû à l’urbanisation, aux moyens de transport, à la migration interne et au développement des médias de masse. Cette situation à l'époque post-industrielle a engendré aujourd’hui le discours régionaliste du Kansaï. -

National Institute of Information and Communications Technology, 2. Socionext Inc. We have developed a method to measure water vapor in horizontal direction using digital terrestrial broadcasting waves [1]. Radio waves are delayed due to water vapor through propagation. Water vapor can be estimated using propagation delay of digital terrestrial broadcasting waves. The basic idea of using propagation delay is the same as that of retrieving PWV by using GNSS. In this study, we estimate water vapor near a ground surface from the horizontal propagation delay of digital terrestrial broadcasting waves. The main features of this observation are, no need for transmitters (small and low cost due to receiving only), applicability wherever digital terrestrial broadcasting is available, and its high time resolution. Our target is to improve the accuracy of numerical weather forecast for severe weather phenomena such as localized heavy rainstorms in urban areas through data assimilation. We have developed a real-time delay measurement system with a software-defined radio (SDR) technique, whose main components are USRP-N210 and PC (prototype). Seven measurement systems are now under operation around Tokyo metropolitan area. Although the main source of digital terrestrial broadcasting waves in Tokyo area is the Tokyo Skytree, some small radio towers that transmit Television Saitama, Chiba Television, Television Kanagawa, and do on can be also available. -

McGOLDRICK A DISSERTATION SUBMITTED TO THE FACULTY OF GRADUATE STUDIES IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DEGREE OF DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY GRADUATE PROGRAM IN MUSIC YORK UNIVERSITY TORONTO, ONTARIO MARCH 2017 © Gerry McGoldrick, 2017 ABSTRACT The shamisen, a Japanese plucked lute dating back to the seventeenth century, began to be played by blind itinerant male performers known as bosama in the late nineteenth century in the Tsugaru region, part of present-day Aomori prefecture in northern Japan. By the early twentieth century it was used by sighted players to accompany local folk songs, and from the 1940s entirely instrumental versions of a few of the folk songs were being performed. In the late 1950s the term Tsugaru shamisen was coined and the genre began to get national attention. This culminated in a revival in the 1970s centred on Takahashi Chikuzan, who had made a living as a bosama in the prewar period. In the wake of the 70s boom a contest began to be held annually in Hirosaki, the cultural capital of the Tsugaru region. This contest nurtured a new generation of young players from all over Japan, eventually spawning other national contests in every corner of the country. Chikuzan’s death in 1998 was widely reported in the media, and Yoshida Ryōichirō and Yoshida Kenichi, brothers who had stood out at the contests, were cast as the new face of Tsugaru shamisen. From about 2000 a new Tsugaru shamisen revival was under way, and the music could be heard as background music on Television programs and commercials representing a modern Japan that had not lost its traditions. -

JRI news release May 10, 2001 The Japan Research Institute, Limited Announcing the Establishment of the Saitama e-Community Project Committee — Improvement in life convenience of local residents and construction of a business infrastructure using IT — [1] The Japan Research Institute, Limited ("JRI"; Headquarters: 16 Ichiban-cho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Masahiko Koido) and 8 leading companies from various sectors of industry based in Saitama Prefecture, will formally establish the "Saitama e-Community Project Committee", whose purpose is to conduct research, preparatory to the implementation of the "Local Community Portal Site — Saitama e-Community" (provisional name), a project for the improvement in life convenience of local residents and for the construction of an infrastructure to promote the use of IT in the local community. The consortium will hold an establishment general meeting at the Urawa Royal Pines Hotel at 15:00 on May 10. [2] Saitama e-Community Project Committee will start with nine companies; The Asahi Bank, NHK Saitama Station, The Shinyo-Kinko of Saitama-ken, The Saitama Shimbun, Seibu Railway, Television Saitama, Tobu Railway, The Musashino Bank and JRI. The committee will call for more participants in the committee, and designs to take further examination with about 30 companies eventually. [3] Promoting the positive cooperation with organizations and business in the local community, such as local chambers of commerce and industry, the consortium provides information and services suitable for a local community portal site, with a view to creating a neutral and interactive site that allows local residents' participation. [4] The Project Committee will consist of three subcommittees; a "Contents Subcommittee" considers the content of information services to be provided, an "Implementation Subcommittee" is in charge of the feasibility and the structure of organizations of the project, and a "System Subcommittee"consider what kind of systems and distribution channels should be used in realization of the project. -
