  • Study Ecumenical Church Music in Banat
Study Ecumenical church music in Banat elaborated within the project RORS 35: Religious music – Establishment of Cross-border Touristic Routes Elaborated by Politea Association Coordinated by dr. Bakk Miklos Project title: Religious music – Establishment of Cross-border Touristic Routes – RORS 35 Material editor: Reformed Center Timișoara Publishing date: February 2018 The content of this material does not necessarily represent the official position of the European Union. In case of any complaints, contact: [email protected] www.romania-serbia.net 0 Study Ecumenical ecclesial music in Banat The well-known researcher of the Central and Eastern Europe's musical life, Dr. Franz Metz, stated in a paper published in Beograd in 2000 that church music in this part of Europe is still at the beginning of the third millennium, a white tab of the history of European music, and lists a few elements that contributed to this state of affairs. In fact, ecclesiastical music was something that was tolerated in the time of communism, and there was no support for research, for data gathering sometimes endangered. This situation is more than sad, it is even tragic, if we consider the volume published in 1858, entitled "Banater Liederbuch", that is, Banat Book of Songs, more precisely its preface, which states that there is no other place on the earth with so many languages and dialects, Banat being a place where different languages and cultures influence one another. We find cultures such as Romanian, German, Hungarian, Serbian, Czech, Croatian, Bulgarian, Slovak, and Yiddish before the totalitarian era, each of which has a strong component of church music.

RUSSIAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCES, INSTITUTE OF ECONOMICS “Thirty years after breakup of the SFRY: modern problems of relations between the republics of the former Yugoslavia” 15th independence anniversary of Montenegro: achievements and challenges Prof. dr Gordana Djurovic University of Monenegro 21 May 2021 1 An overview: from Doclea to the Kingdom of Montenegro (1) • During the Roman Empire, the territory of Montenegro was actually the territory of Duklja (DOCLEA). Doclea was originally the name of the Roman city on the site of modern Podgorica (Ribnica), built by Roman Emperor Diocletian, who hailed from this region of Roman Dalmatia. • With the arrival of the Slovenes in the 7th century, Christianity quickly gained primacy in this region. • Doclea (Duklja) gradually became a Principality (Knezevina - Arhontija) in the second part of the IX century. • The first known prince (knez-arhont) was Petar (971-990), (or Petrislav, according to Kingdom of Doclea by 1100, The Chronicle of the Priest of Dioclea or Duklja , Ljetopis popa Dukljanina, XIII century). In 1884 a during the rule of King Constantine Bodin lead stamp was found, on which was engraved in Greek "Petar prince of Doclea"; In that period, Doclea (Duklja) was a principality (Byzantine vassal), and Petar was a christianized Slav prince (before the beginning of the Slavic mission of Cirilo and Metodije in the second part of the IX century (V.Nikcevic, Crnogorski jezik, 1993). • VOJISLAVLJEVIĆ DYNASTY (971-1186) - The first ruler of the Duklja state was Duke Vladimir (990 – 1016.). His successor was duke Vojislav (1018-1043), who is considered the founder of Vojislavljević dynasty, the first Montenegrin dynasty.

Birds of North Greece Holiday Report 2013 Greenwings Wildlife Holidays Tel: 01473 602389 Web: www.greenwings.co Email: [email protected] ©Greenwings 2013 Day 1: Monday 6th May Our late afternoon flight meant an evening drive from the airport to our base next to Lake Kerkini. During our journey we heard Nightingales every 50 metres and had first sightings of Hoopoe, Common Buzzard, Common Kestrel and Bee-eater. The Nightingales awaited us at our hotel too and with windows open at night, their melodic song could be heard in all directions. Once settled in we all took a very leisurely stroll to a taverna in the village square and discussed plans for the week ahead over a traditional and delicious mezedes style meal. Bird watching didn’t stop entirely for food and wine; Scops Owl was heard and White Storks were seen sitting on their telegraph pole top nests. All in all a good start to the holiday! Day 2: Tuesday 7th May After a good breakfast we drove to nearby Mandraki Harbour for our first proper view of Lake Kerkini. Steve and Hilary explained the lake’s importance to many birds, including the Dalmatian Pelicans seen fishing further out on the lake. We also learnt about the pressures facing the drowned forest due to changes in water levels in recent years and the associated impact this has had on various breeding bird species. Our view of it was distant and it wasn’t easy to appreciate the scale of it and the sheer richness of life it supports. Our boat trip planned for another day would bring us up close and personal though! The air was thick with buzzing insects chased by House Martins and Swallows and in the phragmites we could hear a Great Reed Warbler.
