Permanent waving: chemically restructures hair into a different wave pattern. i. Most services performed to create waves/curls in straighter hair types. ii. Requires the use of rods, end wraps, waving lotion, and neutralizer. iii. Effects: increases fullness; redirects growth patterns until new growth occurs; provides greater styling control. b. Reformation curl: restructures very curly hair into a larger curl pattern. i. Also known as a soft-curl perm, Jheri curl, or a curl. ii. Requires relaxing product to partially straighten hair, rods, end wraps, waving lotion, and neutralizer. iii. Procedure is part chemical hair relaxer service/part permanent waving service. iv. Provides an alternative to the natural look/total straightening. c. Chemical hair relaxing: rearranges the structure of over-curly hair into a straighter hair form. i. Requires relaxing cream, neutralizer/neutralizing shampoo, and conditioner. ii. Process should leave hair in a soft, straightened form. iii. May be followed with wet setting, wrapping, or thermal styling. d. Chemical services require maintenance and periodic reapplications as new growth appears.

Activity :

 Find before and after pictures of a person who is getting a Relaxer, Permanent Wave and Reformation Curl (jheri curl)  Create a PowerPoint of the chemical changes that occurs when a client receives these services. Which means I should see a transformation slide for a natural person to relaxed hair, a slide for a straight hair client to wavy hair and a slide for a kinky curly client to soft curls. Be very creative and detailed in your presentation. Use the basic PowerPoint slide rubric already saved to Teams .
