Yellow Springs Yoga presents…. Judith Hanson Lasater Taking Refuge: Coming Home to Ourselves April 27 – May 1, 2019 Yellow Springs, Ohio It seems to me that we all have a great need for a place of refuge. But sadly the difficulties of today’s world can invade our consciousness at any place and at any time, mainly because of the Internet. It may not actually be harder to find the time and means to live in a positive way these days, but it sure seems like it. To help counter this, in our workshop we will explore the topic of refuge. What is it actually? Is it just running away? What does it mean to take refuge? And what can spiritual traditions tell us about the state of refuge? I particularly want us to focus on how we can find our own special refuge in our lives right now, and how we can live grounded in that space of refuge every day. We will do this by short discussions and by some assignments to think about outside of class. But we will also deepen our understanding of refuge by learning about it on our mat. Refuge must not be just understood; it also must be felt in our body. What can asana, pranayama, Restorative poses, and meditation teach us specifically about refuge? The first session each day will be an Active Practice of asana. The afternoon sessions will be a Quiet Practice of Restorative, pranayama and meditation. Our awareness during the five days however will be on exploring, embracing, enjoying and embodying our own Sweet Refuge.
