    La II Guerra Mondiale. I combattimenti a Tufillo (2-4 novembre 1943) a cura di Giovanni Artese Le operazioni dell’8ª Divisione indiana tra la fine di ottobre e l’8 novembre 1943 (da D. PAL, The Campaign in Italy 1943-45). 1 Dal 10 giugno 1940 all’8 settembre 1943 La notizia dell'entrata in guerra dell’Italia nel secondo conflitto mondiale giunse anche nelle località della valle del Trigno con i comunicati radio del 10 giugno 1940. Tra incredulità e preoccupazione, essa fu accolta dalla gente con fatalismo, come una sorta di prova obbligata attraverso cui si trattava di passare, magari il più in fretta possibile (come del resto le stesse autorità promettevano). Ma le cose andarono diversamente. Per ben tre anni i soldati italiani dovettero battersi, spesso in condizioni di inferiorità, sui fronti della Francia (1940), dell'Africa Settentrionale e Orientale (1940-43), della Grecia, Albania e Jugoslavia (1940-43) e nella infausta tragica campagna di Russia (1941-1943), per rinviare una sconfitta che soltanto l’aiuto militare tedesco aveva impedito che giungesse già dal 1941. E questo mentre l’intera nazione era costretta ad una “economia di guerra” che aggravava le già precarie condizioni di vita di gran parte della popolazione. L’invasione alleata della Sicilia (10 luglio 1943) e la conseguente caduta di Mussolini e del fascismo (il successivo 25 luglio) furono pertanto salutate con sollievo da chi non vedeva prospettive nel conflitto; ma neppure tali avvenimenti posero fine alla guerra, che anzi stava per coinvolgere direttamente la penisola italiana e per percorrerla poi, dal Sud al Nord, fino all’aprile 1945.

Trieste 58 2016 57/83 XII 2016 ISSN: 0335-1576 LE ORCHIDACEAE DELLA PROVINCIA DI CHIETI (ABRUZZO) AMELIO PEZZETTA Via Monteperalba 34 – 34149 Trieste; e-mail: [email protected] Riassunto – Il territorio della provincia di Chieti (regione Abruzzo) misura 2.592 km² e occupa da nord a sud l'area com- presa tra le valli dei fiumi Pescara e Trigno, mentre da sud-ovest a nord-ovest lo spartiacque di vari massicci montuosi lo separa da altre province. Nel complesso è caratterizzato da una grande eterogeneità ambientale che consente l'attec- chimento di molte specie vegetali. Nel presente lavoro è riportato l’elenco floristico di tutte le Orchidacee comprendenti 88 taxa e 21 ibridi. A sua volta l'analisi corologica evidenzia la prevalenza degli elementi mediterranei seguita da quelli eurasiatici. Parole chiave: Chieti, Orchidaceae, check-list provinciale, elementi floristici. Abstract – The province of Chieti (Abruzzo Region) measuring 2,592 square kilometers and from north to south occupies the area between the valleys of the rivers Trigno and Pescara while from the south-west to north-west the watershed of several mountain ranges separating it from other provinces. In the complex it is characterized by a great diversity envi- ronment that allows the engraftment of many plant species. In this paper it contains a list of all the Orchids flora including 88 taxa and 21 hybrids. In turn chorological analysis highlights the prevalence of Mediterranean elements followed by those Eurasian.   • The Sangro Valley Research Project (Abruzzo): Excavation and Research at Colle Sant’Ianni (Villetta Barrea, Pescasseroli)
    THE SANGRO VALLEY RESEARCH PROJECT (ABRUZZO): EXCAVATION AND RESEARCH AT COLLE SANT’IANNI (VILLETTA BARREA, PESCASSEROLI), 1997-2000 The ‘Sangro Valley Research Project’ was initiated in 1994, organised and in part directed by Prof. John Lloyd† (Istitute of Archaeology, University of Oxford) who sadly died in 1999. It was co-ordinated with the British School at Rome who offered financial and material support, and further funds were provided by the British Academy, The Roman Society, and the Craven Committee. The basic scope of the Project was to analyse the settlement and landscape sequence of different zones of the broad valley of the river Sangro in the Abruzzo region of east central Italy spanning the periods from early prehistory to the medieval epoch. The Project featured a wide methodology, combining field/surface landscape archaeology, geomorphological analysis, excavation, GIS, and ethnographic research). FONDAZIONI MONASTICHE E TERRITORIO La documentazione relativa all’Alto Vastese, per quanto ri- guarda il periodo anteriore all’anno Mille, si è dimostrata estremamente scarsa, se non addirittura assente per gran par- te delle località. Questa lacuna, dovuta probabilmente alla re- lativa distanza della zona dalle grandi istituzioni monastiche e dai centri amministrativi principali, purtroppo impedisce una comprensione chiara del quadro insediativo di età alto- medievale. È durante il corso dell’XI sec. che si infittiscono le testi- monianze, costituite più che altro da donazioni nei confronti di istituzioni religiose1. Anche per quanto riguarda gli attuali comuni di Roccaspinalveti e di Fraine, le primissime attesta- zioni risalgono alla metà dell’XI sec. Tale sistema istituito, nell’ambito del Nuovo Sistema Informativo Sanitario (NSIS), con decreto ministeriale del 17 dicembre 2008 e successive modificazioni (G.U. n. 6 del 9 gennaio 2009) mira a costruire una base dati integrata a livello nazionale, incentrata sul paziente, dalla quale rilevare informazioni in merito agli interventi sanitari e socio-sanitari erogati in maniera programmata da operatori afferenti al Servizio Sanitario Nazionale (SSN), nell’ambito dell’assistenza domiciliare. L’analisi è stata condotta attraverso l’applicazione delle seguenti due misure ai dati trasmessi dalla regione Abruzzo relativamente ai Comuni individuati e ricompresi nelle macro aree: Valle Subequana, Val Fino – Vestina, Basso Sangro – Trigno, Valle Roveto. Misure Numero di persone con età maggiore o uguale a 65 anni/ 75 anni prese in carico (misura 1); Numero di accessi pro capite (misura 2).     Cities call for a more sustainable and equitable European future An open letter to the European Council and its Member States Tuesday 30th April 2019, President of the European Council, Heads of States and Governments of the European Union Member States, We, the undersigned mayors and heads of local governments have come together to urge the Heads of States and Governments of the Member States to commit the European Union (EU) and all European institutions to a long-term climate strategy with the objective of reaching net-zero emissions by 2050 – when they meet at the Future of Europe conference in Sibiu, Romania on 9 May, 2019. The urgency of the climate crisis requires immediate action, stepping up our climate ambition and pursuing every effort to keep global temperature rise below 1.5C by mid-century, as evidenced by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5C. Current energy and climate policies in place globally, set the planet on a global warming pathway of 3°C. We are reminded of the inadequacy of our response to climate change, by the thousands of young people demonstrating each week on the streets of European cities - and around the world. We cannot let the status quo jeopardise their future and those of millions of European citizens. We owe it to the next generation to make more ambitious commitments to address climate change at all levels of government and in every aspect of European policy-making. We acknowledge and support the positions of the European Parliament and of the Commission to pursue net-zero emissions as the only viable option for the future of Europe and the world.
