Mais ce n’est pas tout ; il faut aussi souligner l’hospitalité des habitants de Saint-Sébastién et leur attitude ouverte face au visiteur. Les citoyens sont totalement conscients de l’importance du tourisme pour leur ville et deviennent parfois les meilleurs guides touristiques. Ils sont fiers de montrer leur ville au visiteur. D’un autre côté, nos visiteurs deviennent souvent les meilleurs ambassadeurs de Saint-Sébastien : en racontant autour d’eux leurs Maire de Saint-Sébastien expériences, ils évoquent différentes sensations, des sentiments particuliers qui provoquent chez leurs interlocuteurs le désir de se rendre à Saint-Sébastien pour vivre ses expériences. La visite de Saint-Sébastien n’est pas un choix anodin. C’est une ville qui a misé sur l’excellence, par le biais de la gastronomie, de l’environnement, de la culture et des loisirs. Avec tout cela, elle a réussi à créer une offre complète et attrayante. Mais le tourisme n’est pas quelque chose que nous avons inventé récemment. Il y a plus d’un siècle que les premiers touristes arrivèrent dans notre ville. Nous n’avons pas inventé le tourisme, mais nous voulons lui donner un nouvel élan en cette période de crise. En outre, nous ne pouvons pas oublier que 2013 est une année spéciale pour la ville. En effet, sont commémorés cette année les 200 ans de la destruction et par conséquent du projet de reconstruction de la ville promu par les habitants de Saint-Sébastien. Au fil de cette commémoration, la Municipalité a organisé plusieurs cérémonies auxquelles nous avons invité les habitants de Saint-Sébastien et les visiteurs. En 2016, Saint-Sébastien sera Capitale européenne de la culture avec la ville polonaise Wroclaw, ce qui représente une grande opportunité pour faire connaître la ville et montrer ce que nous pouvons apporter dans le domaine de la culture. Nous vous souhaitons la bienvenue et nous espérons que vous profiterez bien de la ville ainsi que de toute la région de Gipuzkoa.   • Norway – the Lofoten Islands and Fjord Country
    Norway August 5 - 28 This itinerary is for a 22-day/23-night trip, but of course you could follow just parts of it for a shorter trip (see suggestion below). My trip was composed of several segments: four days driving the coastal road, the mountainous E6 route, and the middle segment of the Lofoten Islands; six days based in Reine, in the southern tip of the Lofoten Islands; five days in Bergen and driving up through Sognefjord to the Geirangerfjord; and finally, a week based in Aurland, on the southern side of the Sognefjord. Norway is an expensive country to travel in. But picking lodging with a kitchen(ette) to cook in once in a while can greatly cut back on costs (and you may eat better anyways!) This trip is probably much more enjoyable in the late spring and summer months, but you can save some money by visiting just before peak season (early June) or just after (late August). You can also save money (especially if you are traveling with several people) by renting a cabin or a house for a week. We rented house #FJS377 in Aurland (southern Sognefjord) through Interchalet (http://www.interchalet.co.uk) and it was absolutely wonderful. The house was spacious and comfortable and the view from the deck is possibly the best view I saw in the three weeks of travel in Norway. I found August to a good time to travel to Norway. The weather was unpredictable (some days sunny and 80F and some days closer to 50F and rainy).
