This guide is divided into several sections: • A general introduction to Rio de Janeiro and to the Games; • Sport-specific information on subjects such as the competition format, schedule and venue; rules; training; and qualification criteria; • General information touching on accreditation, ticketing, accommodation, medical services, doping control and transport; • A directory that contains contact details, maps and a daily competition schedule for all sports. All information provided in this Explanatory Guide was correct at the time of publication in July 2015; however, please note that these details may change between this date and the Games. NOCs are advised to check the IOC’s NOCnet (http://extranet.olympic.org/nocnet) and Rio 2016’s Rio Exchange (https://rioexchange.rio2016.com) for important updates on topics, such as to the competition schedule.
