MEMORIA 2013-2014 CURLING Club Hielo Txuri-Berri Curling Temporada 13-14 Donostia, 20 de mayo de 2014 La sección de Curling del Club Hielo Txuri-Berri califica una vez más de excelente la temporada realizada por sus jugadores tanto a nivel nacional como internacional. Como logro más importante, cabe destacar que el Club Hielo Txuri-Berri ha disputado 3 de las 4 finales posibles de los pasados Campeonatos de España en sus diferentes modalidades (absoluto femenino, mixto y dobles mixtos), consiguiendo proclamarse campeón de España absoluto femenino por segunda vez en su historia. Eso significa que dicho equipo representará al equipo nacional en el próximo Campeonato de Europa Absoluto 2014 (grupo C). En la modalidad mixta, el equipo Txuri-Berri Cafés Aitona igualó el segundo puesto conseguido la temporada pasada. En la modalidad de dobles mixtos, se consiguieron un segundo y tercer puesto, donde el triunfo fue para la pareja del Iparpolo Sergio e Irantzu (ganadores en 6 ocasiones del título de Campeones de España). El tercer equipo Txuri-Berri finalizó en 6ª posición. En modalidad masculina, el C.H. Txuri-Berri no pudo revalidar su título de campeón de España y terminó en un meritorio 5º puesto, debido a una baja de última hora, lo que supuso tener que jugar el campeonato con solo 3 jugadores. A nivel Internacional, el mayor reto de la temporada fue la participación del equipo absoluto masculino en el Campeonato de Europa (grupoB) disputado en Stavanger (Noruega), como miembros de la selección nacional. El equipo masculino logró una meritoria 11ª posición final y el objetivo de la permanencia. -

Nu väntar nästa stora mästerskap för Anna Hasselborg, Sara McManus, Agnes Knochenhauer, Sofia Mabergs, Jennie Wåhlin och coach Maria Prytz. VM i North Bay, Kanada startar idag lördag och med svensk premiärmatch mot Danmark. Curling.se träffade Agnes Knochenhauer några dagar innan avresan mot VM i Kanada – Vi har haft drygt två veckor hemma efter OS-guldet. Första veckan var det mycket media och andra uppdrag men även prioritet på att vila. Nu laddar vi batterierna med tid för våra familjer och genom att vara tillbaka i träning. När vi är på plats i Kanada blir det fullt fokus mot VM och det ska bli roligt att tävla igen, säger Agnes. Nyblivna olympiska mästare, favoriter och siktet inställt på medalj även i VM – Vi har ju ingen VM-medalj så det är inget snack om vad vi går för. Men som vanligt är det många tuffa lag att möta och viktigt att vi lyckas ställa om och fokusera, säger Agnes. Curling är en av världens snabbast växande vintersporter. Det återspeglas också i VM som fr.o.m i år utökas från 12 till 13 länder. Antalet speldagar är detsamma men nu väntar 12 matcher i grundserien och sedan två eller tre matcher i slutspelet. – Det är en riktigt lång turnering med många matcher så vi måste fortsätta med att vara noggranna och ha en bra planering för att hinna ladda om mellan alla matcher, säger Agnes. -

RCCC Development Officer Jim Morrison, in conjunction with North Lanarkshire Active Schools team, will co-ordinate sessions for primary children to initially start curling within their school using New Age Kurling sets before participating in the RCCC Curling’s Cool programme which consists of a 4 hour block of lessons. The programme will allow children to develop a healthy lifestyle through curling by improving/developing skills, working in a team/group environment in their own community and feeding into the local club when appropriate and continue to play into adulthood. -

The junior women’s and men’s Champions will earn the right to represent Scotland at the World Junior Championships, where Scotland has medalled consecutively every year since 2004 - in 2016 Scotland’s junior men won gold, becoming World Junior Curling Champions. Curl Aberdeen is again the venue for the national event, it has hosted the Scottish Curling Junior Championships since 2010 and we are delighted to be back. Curl Aberdeen will also host the World Junior Curling Championships in 2018, as part of the exciting programme of four international curling events that Scotland is playing host to, the first of which - the Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships - took place at intu Braehead in November 2016.
