Alfriyani Pongpindan Islam Khas Indonesia… Islam Khas Indonesia: Metodologi Dakwah Islam Nusantara Alfriyani Pongpindan; UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta; [email protected] Abstract At present there is a tendency for Islam to be synonymous with Arabic culture so that being a true Muslim one must become an Arab Muslim represented in the form of, for example, veils, rather short pants, robes, and so on. Muslims should become Muslims who are truly indigenous according to the culture of Indonesia which is very rich and diverse. Basically humans cannot be separated from their culture because that is their identity from generation to generation to embrace Islam does not necessarily leave the characteristic of local culture that has been inherited by their ancestors. Islam in Indonesia was brought by Arab traders peacefully because it was able to adapt to the culture of Nusantara. Before Islam entered Indonesia, animism, dynamism, Hinduism and Buddhism colored the culture of Nusantara. Islam used that culture as a method of preaching to introduce Islam to non-Islamic communities. Islam comes with unique teachings through the concept of monotheism and egalitarianism in the context of societies that worship gods and caste systems in Hindu teachings so that non-Muslims are attracted to Islam. The Nusantara culture used by Islam as a method of da'wah includes: through building art, carving, music, dance, games, rituals, languages, the use of puppets, and so on. Walisongo is the most enthusiastic preacher in using culture as da'wah so that Islam can rapidly on the Island of Java. Keywords: Islam, Nusantara Culture and Da'wah Method. -

Akh. Muzakki IS EDUCATION DETERMINANT? The Formation of Liberal and Anti-liberal Islamic Legal Thinking in Indonesia Akh. Muzakki The University of Queensland, Australia Abstract: Liberalism and anti-liberalism are two increasing- ly prominent but staunchly opposing streams of Islamic legal thinking in Indonesia. This article analyses the formation of each of the two through an examination of the role of formal education. It focuses on organic intellectuals during two periods, the New Order and the reformasi. Challenging the strongly-held thesis of the determinant role of education, this article argues that both liberal and anti-liberal Islamic legal thinking in Indonesia is a result of not only the intellectual formation in the sense of academic training and access to education and knowledge, but also the sociological background and exposure in building a new epistemic community in an urban context. As a theoretical understanding of sociolo- gical background and exposure, the concept of epistemic community deserves to be taken as an analytical framework in addition to education for the analysis of the formation of the two contesting bents of Islamic legal thinking in Indonesia. The typical Javanese Islam is often called kejawen Islam, or abangan. The majority of Javanese who are called by many parties "abangan people" have their own views on the major religions in the World. For Niels Mulder in his book, Javanese tend to view Islam as an Arab religion, so that Islam seems to have failed to be placed as a basis for living beliefs for the Javanese. However, almost no Muslim in Indonesia has never heard the name Wali Songo, a collective unit of 9 guardians. Sunan Kalijaga is better known than the other 8 guardians with various monumental works. The world of puppet is said to be the fruit of the work of this guardian, as Sekaten, which has been called, is a tradition of celebrating the birthday of the Prophet which is officially celebrated by the Kingdom of Yogyakarta and Surakarta, to the present. According to Prof. Dr. Omar M. Konsep ini sudah ada sejak lama, namun baru begitu populer dikalangan publik saat PBNU yang dipimpin K.H. Said Aqil Siraj menjadikanya tema Muktamar NU ke-33 di Jombang. Islam Nusantara hadir sebagai upaya menangkal gerakan radikalisme dan menunjukan kepada seluruh dunia wajah Islam yang damai, toleran dan berbudaya. Kehadiran konsep ini sebagai bentuk paham keislaman yang berbasis identitas lokal untuk menjaga kakayaan budaya Nusantara dan menumbuhkan spirit nasionalisme masyarakat terhadap bangsa serta untuk meng-counter kedatangan ideologi transnasional ke Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan biografi. Peneliti menggunakan pendekatan ini untuk menelusuri biografi K.H. Said Aqil Siraj dari sejak lahir hingga sekarang. -

BAB III HASIL LAPORAN PENELITIAN METODE TERAPI TOMBO ATI DI PONDOK PESANTREN ISTIGHFAR KAMPUNG PERBALAN KELURAHAN PURWOSARI KOTA SEMARANG A. Gambaran Umum Pondok Pesantren Istighfar Kampung Perbalan Kelurahan Purwosari Kota Semarang 1. Sejarah Singkat Pondok Pesantren Istighfar Kampung Perbalan Kelurahan Purwosari Kota Semarang Berawal dari jamaah pengajian, Gus Tanto mendirikan jamaah mujahadah pada tahun 1988 yang bernamakan Mujahadah Tombo Ati . Dalam mujahadah itu, Gus Tanto secara bergiliran dari rumah ke rumah untuk mengajarkan agama. Kendati demikian usaha yang dilaksanakan Gus Tanto dalam berdakwah ini, tidak selamanya dapat diterima oleh masyarakat setempat. Karena di satu sisi masyarakat setempat adalah masyarakat-masyarakat abangan yang kental akan perilaku mo limo . Awalnya tidak lebih dari empat sampai enam orang yang ikut dalam jama’ah tersebut, hingga akhirnya Gus Tanto dapat mengajak para preman ikut bergabung dalam jama’ah mujahadah. Dalam mujahadah itu, Gus Tanto berusaha menawarkan rasa sejuk di hati para preman. Karena dalam pandangan Gus Tanto, preman itu tidak butuh bahasa ucapan, mereka butuh bahasa praktek. Dengan pendekatan itu, satu persatu dari preman di terminal Semarang (Terboyo) merasa tersentuh dan ikut bergabung dalam jamaah mujahadah yang sudah digelar sejak tahun 1988 di Perbalan. Dari situlah, mujahadah yang telah dirintis sejak tahun 1988 berlanjut dari rumah ke rumah hingga tahun 2005 diresmikannya pendirian Pondok Pesantren Istighfar. Pondok Pesantren Istighfar pada dasarnya mulai didirikan pada tahun 2001 tepatnya pada tanggal 1 Januari 2001, dan diresmikan pada 52 53 tahun 2005. Pondok pesantren ini dibangun di atas tanah seluas 225 m2, yang dikelilingi oleh rumah-rumah penduduk. Sebelah utara dari Ponpes Istighfar adalah rumah-rumah penduduk yang dibatasi Desa Kuningan, sebelah timur yang dibatasi oleh Desa Barat, sebelah selatan dibatasi Desa Pandansari, dan sebelah barat dibatasi Desa Panggung. -

Richardson Professor Goldie Shabad ___________________________ Adviser Department of Political Science ABSTRACT Most theories about the negative relationship between Islam and democracy rely on an interpretation of the Islamic political tradition. More positive accounts are also anchored in the same tradition, interpreted in a different way. While some scholarship relies on more empirical observation and analysis, there is no single work which systematically demonstrates the relationship between Islam and democracy. This study is an attempt to fill this gap by defining Islam empirically in terms of several components and democracy in terms of the components of democratic culture— social capital, political tolerance, political engagement, political trust, and support for the democratic system—and political participation. The theories which assert that Islam is inimical to democracy are tested by examining the extent to which the Islamic and democratic components are negatively associated. Indonesia was selected for this research as it is the most populous Muslim country in the world, with considerable variation among Muslims in belief and practice. Two national mass surveys were conducted in 2001 and 2002. This study found that Islam defined by two sets of rituals, the networks of Islamic civic engagement, Islamic social identity, and Islamist political orientations (Islamism) does not have a negative association with the components of democracy. -

BAB III K.H. MUSTOFA BISRI DAN PEMIKIRAN DAKWAH DALAM BUKU MEMBUKA PINTU LANGIT A. Biografi K.H. Mustofa Bisri 1. Pendidikan dan Keluarga K.H. A. Mustofa Bisri atau panggilan akrab Gus Mus, lahir di Rembang 10 Agustus 1944, usia 72 tahun. Beliau lahir dari pasangan K.H. Bisri bin H. Zaenal Musthofa danHj. Ma‟rufah binti K.H. Kholil Harun. Gus Mus adalah anak kedua dari delapanbersaudara. Ketujuh saudara Gus Mus yang lain adalah: K.H. Kholil Bisri, K.H.Adib Bisri, Hj. Faridah, Hj. Najihah, Nihayah, Labib, dan Hj. Atikah. K.H. Mustofa Bisri merupakan sepupu sekaligus sahabatnya K.H. Abdurrahman Wahid mantan Presiden RI dan saudara ipar dengan Maftuh Basyuni menteri agama era Susilo Bambang Yudoyono. Dan K.H Maimun Zubair pemilik Pondok Pesanteran Al Anwar Sarang Rembang merupakan paman dari Gus Mus (Bisriyah, wawancara 25/04/17). Latar belakang dari keluarga muslim yang taat Gus Mus memperoleh gemblengan di Pondok Pesantren Lirboyo Kediri. Dibawah asuhan K.H. Marzuki dan K.H. Machrus Ali. Selain itu beliau juga menimba ilmu di Ponpes Al-Munawwir 72 73 Krapyak Yogyakarta dibawah asuhan K.H. Ali Maksum dan K.H. Abdul Qadir.Kemudian di Pesantren “Taman Belajar Islam” di Rembang Jawa Tengah (Sutrisno,2012: 105).Kemudian atas rekomendasi dari pengasuh PP Krapyak Yogyakarta ayah Gus Mus, Bisri Mustofa mengirim Gus Mus ke Universitas Al-Azhar Cairo Mesir. Gus Mus diterima pada Kulliyati al-Qaanun wa as-Syari‟ah al-Qismul „Aly Li al- Dirasah Islamiyah wa al-„Arabiyyah. Sebuah fakultas yang konon diselenggarakan atas gagasan Presiden Gamal Abdul Naseer kepada Syaikh al-Azhar. -
