The Nortec Collective was founded in 1999 by Ramon “Bostich” Amezcua and Pete “Fussible” Mogt who continue to perform together. Bostich and Fussible’s Grammy nominated album was released by National Records. National Records represents the album and the two artists’ work together and is the best way to get in touch with them. Contacting Fussible’s manager at Cookman International is also a possibility.
A recent article posted January 25, 2009 reviews the groups work and Grammy nomination. Bostich and Fussible said that if they win they are going to dedicate the Grammy to Tijuana which “would be an appropriate homage, since Amezuca and Mogt are both Tijuana natives whose work and worldviews are heavily inspired by the border-straddling city.”
“The 15 tracks on this album reflect our lives from both sides of the border," Mogt said. "That's why there is an old car on the album cover. You listen to it and its like being in a car, crossing back and forth, between San Diego and Tijuana. Plus, you have all these military checkpoints now in Tijuana, so some of the songs have military police radio samples that we made." Nortec Collective has a history of playing for benefit concerts and social responsibility.
