Villa Isola is one of the heritage buildings with art deco relic of the Dutch East Indies, now became the rectorate of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI). The building was built in October 1932 – March 1933 and changes its function into office in 1954. The changes of the spatial structure from 4 floors into five floors to meet the needs of space, it also changed the interior with a segmented room. Measurement of the globe temperature (Tg); air temperature (Ta) and the surface temperature (Ts) were performed at a point indoor and outdoor with a 15 minutes interval. The phenomenon of heat temperature difference (∆Ts) at 0.50°C indoor, meanwhile the outdoor ∆Ts = 2.2°C. This paper then, will give a description of Villa Isola, its temperature alteration both indoor and outdoor. Keywords: microclimate, Isola Bumi Siliwangi, indoor and outdoor temperature 1. • Building the Dutch East Indies
In this trilogy Remco Vermeulen, Advisor Indonesia, searches for the shared past and shared future of the Netherlands and Indonesia. His personal journey of discovery leads from his own family history to today’s dynamic debate of cultural cooperation. Through this journey, his subjective and nostalgic image of Indonesia develops along with the complex and modern image in which many personal histories define the relationship between both countries. Part 1 – Building the Dutch East Indies My first image of Indonesia was shaped by the many stories my grandfather, or opi as we used to call him, told me as a little boy, and which he put in writing in the 1990s. His stories sketch an image of a carefree childhood in the Dutch East Indies. Sawahs at Singosari, 2015 (Collection Daphne Vermeulen) Early childhood In 1934 my opi’s brother builds a house in the village of Singosari, about 90 kilometres south of Surabaya, East Java. It is one of those typical Indo-European (or ‘Indo’) residences of the upper middle class, with all living quarters on the ground floor, shadowy verandas and high roofs with tiles and small openings for ventilation. My opi is about ten years old when he moves to Singosari with his parents, which is a small village amidst rice fields and tropical forests. After school he runs around with his dog and shoots pigeons with a small airgun. He has kite fights with the kampong children or helps his mother with baking Indo delicacies such as spekkoek, mocha cakes or koningskronen. In Surabaya, the big city, where he attends the Koningin Emma technical high school, he goes to the movies with his school friends who have Indo-Chinese, Dutch, Indo, Portuguese-Indo and Javanese backgrounds.

Wolff Schoemaker) Moh. Fachruddin Suharto Jurusan PTB Prodi Arsitektur Fakultas Teknik UNIMA [email protected] ABSTRAK Selama 350 tahun bangsa Belanda menguasai nusantara, banyak meninggalkan bukti sejarah, salah satunya adalah bangunan Kolonial Belanda (Indisch). Kata kunci : Arsitektur Kolonial (Indisch), C.P Wolff Schoemaker , Karakter bangunan ASTRACT During the 350 years the Dutch controlled the archipelago, many leaving historical evidence, one of which was the Dutch Colonial (Indisch) building.

But in Indonesia, the former largest colony of the Dutch empire, they have always been part of the country’s architectural history. They continue to be recognized and referred to, even after a generation has passed. This small booklet contains the speeches of two of the most influential Dutch professors who mentored the majority of the first generation of Indonesian architects: C.P. Wolff Schoemaker (1882-1949) and Vincent van Romondt (1903-1974). Clearly Schoemaker and Van Romondt held different views about the challenges of architecture in the world as well as in Indonesia.

  • Tinjauan Furnitur Art Deco Pada Villa Isola
Abstract Villa Isola (now Bumi Siliwangi) is an art-deco building in the northern part of Bandung, the capital of West Java province of Indonesia. Overlooking the valley with the view of the city, Villa Isola was built in 1932 by the Dutch architect Wolff Schoemaker for the Dutch media tycoon Dominique William Berretty, the founder of the Aneta press-agency in the Dutch East Indies.

  • Mitos Kala Dalam Arsitektur Wolff Schoemaker Pada Gedung Landmark Bandung
Mitos Kala dalam Arsitektur Wolff Schoemaker pada Gedung Landmark Bandung Ganesha Wibisana Sekolah Tinggi Teknologi Bandung (STTB) Jl. Soekarno-Hatta No.378, Kb. Lega, Kec. Bojongloa Kidul, Kota Bandung, Jawa Barat 40235 [email protected] ABSTRACT The interesting aspect of various architectural works of Wolff Schoemaker in Bandung city is the interaction between the sphere of Western and Eastern influence expressing full Indonesian ornamentation. This can be seen in the use of Kala’s head in the Landmark building. The figure is depicted with a face without a lower jaw placed on the building through a symmetrical shape, but with a dynamic ornament. The purpose of this research is to examine the meaning and influence of Kala’s head in Schoemaker’s architecture. This study is qualitative research using descriptive analysis methods. It explains the conception of the times in terms of form, characteristics and their translation in the myths of Javanese society. It was adopted in colonial buildings which made a cultural acculturation in architecture. The results of the analysis show that the Kala ornament in the building is influenced by the shape of the temples in the Central Java period. It has an identical shape to the Kala at the Gedong Songo temple and the Semar temple functioning as an antidote to negativity in the building. Keywords: Ornaments, Architecture, Kala, Wolff Shoemaker PENDAHULUAN kuat dalam perkembangan arsitektur A. Latar Belakang Kota Bandung.
