Additional Opportunities
Chinese Language Course a) All the incoming exchange students will have the opportunity to take FREE Chinese language courses at the beginnings’ level b) University-level exchange students are free to choose Chinese language courses for 8 class hours/week, consisting of various levels of learning and training, which is normally one or two modules from the intensive Chinese language program. Courses usually start the first week of each semester *University-level exchange students: students from universities signed agreements with Shanghai Jiao Tong University *School-level exchange students: students from universities signed agreements with the relevant college/department at Shanghai Jiao Tong University
Scholarship Opportunity
Each university having the partner relationship with SJTU from either Europe or USA could have one opportunity to select one scholarship recipient sponsored by China Scholarship Council with RMB 7500/semester. Please be aware that the recipient must hold the citizenship of nominating 2 FACT SHEET 2017/18 institutes from either the European or the USA universities. The university coordinator should send the scholarship candidates information to the International Mobility Office during the nomination period. The SJTU committee will review each applicant's materials and release the final results during the period of the admission package mailing.

3 FACT SHEET 2017/18 Application Information
Eligibility a) A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale b) HSK 5 at least for attending the Chinese language Taught Course (Original test certificate required) c) IELTS 6.0 or TOFEL 90 for attending English Courses (Original test certificate not compulsory. No need for Non-native speakers to attend English Taught Programs) d) Must be a currently enrolled university student e) Students completed 2 semesters at home university required
Application Procedure
a) A nomination link from SJTU exchange system will be sent to the email addresses of exchange coordinators b) Exchange coordinators need to open the link and input nominees' basic information online c) Once nominees' basic information is recorded into the system, nominees will receive an application link and login directly with their email address and initial password d) Students should submit the application form before the due time. e) Exchange coordinators will be notified about students' admission result by email
*Soft Reminders: The school-level exchange partners don't have to nominate students online. They need to send the nominated students' information to the relevant school coordinators at SJTU.

Admission Package
We usually mail the admission packages to the university exchange coordinators not the student personally. The admission package includes but not limited to: a) Cover Letter b) Admission Notice c) Visa Application Documents d) Welcome Letter e) Accommodation Application Guidance

Three Ways for Accommodation

a) Both Xuhui and Minhang Campus provides student accommodation. Regarding the detailed information, please refer to http://isc.sjtu.edu.cn/EN/content.aspx?info_lb=260&flag=3 . b) Homestay and Zi Ru Department is available near Minhang Campus, if you want to experience a local lifestyle. c) The Apartment Rent differs at both Minhang and Xuhui Campus. Basically, it costs at least RMB 2000/per month to rent a studio near Minhang campus and much more expensive near Xuhui Campus.

Average cost of living: RMB 2000/month Approx.: RMB 24 000/Year Food: RMB 30-50/ day at school canteen Health insurance: Insurance from Chinese local company is compulsory for stay over 180 days.
Upon Arrival
Airport Pickup Service
International Mobility Office, International Student Center of SJTU organizes a group airport pickup service for all the newly arriving exchange students on a specific date. This service will pick you up from the international terminal of PVG or SHA and take you to your dorm on Minhang or Xuhui Campus.
Course Selection
University wide exchange students could choose both undergraduate and graduate courses in different schools and majors. The following majors and schools are not open to university wide exchange students: School of Medicine MBA/IMBA/EMBA/MIB programs of Antai College Shanghai Advanced Finance Institution UM-SJTU Joint institution School wide exchange students could only choose the course within the relevant school. Credits
Minimum credits required: 12 credits Average full-load credits/semester: 20~25 credits (1 credit = 15~16 class hours)
Soft Reminder: With regards to the specific courses and major information, please consult the relevant department or school directly. It is better for you to consult them before making your study plan. To be a SJTUer: Attend and enjoy the various activities organized by International Mobility Center and other departments of SJTU.
