2) Approval of Past EC Meeting Minutes - Haresh Shah - 5 Minutes Purvin Vakharwala proposed last EC meeting minutes, Ashok Domadia second it and approved by all.
3) President's Message - Gunvant Shah - 5 Minutes Welcome, everyone. In this 1st face to face meeting at Siddhachalam for new EC. Last EC meeting we discussed the goals and will set 3-4 goals for JAINA. This time each EC member will pick two committees which they want to work with and refer to EC so other can help. Goals we will decide later. Veerayatan offered to take a cleanup project. We might start with a small area for Palitana to clean up.
4) Appointment of Convener for 2019 JAINA Convention.- 10 Minutes Traditionally, the first VP of JAINA becomes the Convener. Therefore, Atulbhai is proposing Mahesh Wadher to be the Convener for 2019, seconded by Gunvantbhai and approved by all.
Gunvant Shah added, we had few hiccups in last Convention, so this time focus will be on how can we improve and how can we not repeat what happened.
It is recommended that we appoint two co-convener, so we have three people board for Convention for effective work. Mahesh Wadher will frame a letter inviting to member sanghs to host the convention, and if Jain center is interested, the team will decide host center for Convention 2019.
5) Hurricane Harvey, Irma Update - Dr. Pradeep Shah - Purvin Vakharwala - 10 Minutes Dr. Pradeep Shah and Prakash Mehta tried to set up an all with Huston people, They collected $15000 and will contribute to Seva International. One member of Jain Society Houston center donated $250000 to Houston mayor’s fund. We need to coordinate with Houston Sangh.
Gunvant Shah suggested, we will have web meeting with Houston people on a date decided by Dr. Pradeep Shah, where Austin, Dallas, and other few centers will join the web meeting.
Purvin Vakharwala talked with Jain centers’ Presidents as an RVP and asked if any help needed due to Hurricane. Good news is nobody needs help for the damage of Irma.
6) JAINA Financial Report by Atul Shah ● Atul Shah is proposing Varsha Pancholi as CPA, seconded by and approved by all. Atul Shah presented the report. ● Snehal to work on invoices to sent and supporting documents for income and expenses. ● Expenses receipts of credit card are yet to receive by Atul Shah ● Varsha Pancholi is working on Tax file returns 2016 and will be completed by the deadline given. ● We are up-to-date with our Bank accounts. ● In November meeting we will review 2014 audit reports. ● Atul Shah proposed that two committees Jivdaya and WCS will not be charged 3% charge due to a humanitarian cause, seconded by Dr. Kokila Doshi and approved by all.
The resolution passed: Atul Shah proposed JAINA will not charge an administrative fee, i.e., 3% charge to the two humanitarian committees, i.e., Jiv Daya and World Community Services, seconded by Kokilaben and approved by all.
7) YJA Update - Hetali Lodaya - Avish Jain - 5 Minutes We are in Chicago for a meeting of our new Board. We released last issue (of our terms) of young minds. We released a Thank You video.
8) YJP Update - Neal Daftary - Komal Shah - 5 Minutes We are currently working first YJP Retreat on October 27-29 in California. Request RSVPs to help us promote the YJP Retreat.
9) Committees These are nominated for two years from Nov 1, 2015, to Oct 31, 2017. Therefore it’s necessary to either we nominate a new person or renominate for each committee. Suggestion to create committees’ email ID for better correspondence.
Awards, Fundraising, Govt & Community affairs, Interfaith/World Council, Jain Center Liaison, Technology, Loan Program, Media Production, Public Relations & Media, V.R. Gandhi committees are open for discussion and decide on committee chairperson
