This is my video lip-syncing “Mi Verdad by Mana & ”:

I hope you like it :)

~~ Jon Faye Hernandez Selena Quintanilla

Selena was born on April 16, 1971, in Lake Jackson, Texas. Selena's father, Abraham Quintanilla, was a former musician. He managed and produced his family's group, Selena Y Los Dinos. Selena grew up speaking English, but her father taught her to sing in Spanish so she could resonate with the Latino community. By: Alanah Henry Grade 7 About “Ojalá Que Llueva Café”

“Ojalá Que Llueva Café” is a popular song performed by Cafe Tacuba. Literally speaking, it is about hopes of coffee raining down from the sky. This song was written to remind people how simple their needs can be.

~~ Anya Lin, grade 8 “Coffee” Metaphor

After reading the lyrics, one can infer that the coffee is a metaphor for friendship. According to google translate, the song states that children sing when it rains coffee, which shows that this drink brings people together.

Summer Shuck, grade 7 The song that i chose//La cancion que elijo

The song that i chose was by & The Fania All Stars.

La canción que elegí fue Quimbara de Celia Cruz & The Fania All Stars.

Summer Shuck, grade 7 Reflections on the Songs I honestly can't choose! I LOVED Celia Cruz, , Mana, and Selena! They all have such different vibes and styles. Marc Anthony had a more classical style, Celia Cruz had a more dancey, up beat type of style, Mana was more peaceful, and I couldn't understand what they were saying, but by watching the group Mana facial expressions and what was happening I think it was more of a meaningful song, which I liked. Selena’s song might've been my favorite because it was more now (this era) type of song with a pop kind of vibe to it and I listen to pop songs so its obvious why she was my favorite. Favorite part of Selena’s song? I don't really have a favorite part of the song, but I can tell you what I liked about the song. I liked how the song had a tropical vibe to it, it brings be back to the beach and Hawaii two things is LOVE! ~~Norah Williamson, grade 8

Quimbara By Celia Cruz The song I chose was Quimbara by Celia Cruz. I do not know why but I feel like it was the most interesting song. I had never heard of the artists so I just moved my mouse around and it landed on Celia Cruz. I was intrigued by her song and by the way she dresses. The song was very pumped up and her dress was very colorful and loud. My favorite part was La rumba me esta llamando Bombo dile que ya voy Que me espere un momentico así. Which means The rumba is calling me Hype tell him I'm coming Wait for a moment like this. I do not know why but I feel like this was the part I could relate to the song the most. I really like this song and felt it was good that I chose this. ~~ Sophia Shelton, grade 7 The song I chose was Amor Prohibido. It is by Selena. I chose this song because it was my favorite out of all the songs. I liked this song because it had a very good tune and Selena has an extremely talented voice. I also probably wouldn't have chosen this song because if Selena had not been murdered, I would have not have much interest in her. Once I had researched more about Selena, I figured out she had been killed at 23 years old! My favorite part of the song was when she first said Amor Prohibido in the song. I like it the best because once the beat drops the song gets into a way better tune. ~~ Emelia Pericolosi, grade 6

I really liked the song by Marc Anthony because it was very quiet at parts but also kind of loud at times but also because It was a very Majestic song and I really liked it. I really like the beginning of the song, because it was like just had a beat at the beginning and then it started going into words but there wasn't like a lot of words does more just like a slow song by really liked it. I also really like the middle of the song because it was really quiet and it wasn't like super big rock kind of music I really liked it and it was a good song I mean it had some parts are. Kind of boring for me but that's just me I still really liked it though. ~~ Jackson Snodgrass, grade 6 Reflections on the Songs Vivir Mi Vida - Marc Anthony ★ I chose this song because my mom always listens to it and it reminds me of when I was forced to go to a party with her and became friends with some of the other kids there. The song is also really catchy and gets me in a good mood. My favorite part of the song is the first 37 seconds. ~~Sophia Douglass, grade 8

Cafe Tacuba Ojala Llueva Cafe I like this song because it's upbeat. The thing that's my favorite is they are using instruments from their country. The violin is being used in a different way. Usually it’s used as the melody but in some parts of this it’s used as a lower sound playing instrument. And the guitar is a mix of both a lower sound beat and the melody. They switch off everytime there is a pause in the playing. I don’t really have a favorite parts it’s all good to me. ~~ Ryder Quock, grade 8 Selena I chose selena because my whole childhood i have listened to her songs in my house so i am use to hearing selena and the song you chose to put is one of my favorite song from her. I hadent listened to this song in a few years so it brought back all good memories. ~~ Kayla Zavaleta, grade 7

I chose Anita Tijoux because I like rap music and I like the way she raps. And I like all of the parts. They sound really good and thatś why. I like how she flows with the song. And I just overall like the group. And I like all the drums and the music they make. They must be popular in Mexico because I like their music. And that is why I like Anita Tijoux and her group. ~~ Julian Zerbib, grade 6

I choose the song Amor Prohibido by Selena because I know she’s very popular and because she was the only person on the doc that I’ve heard of besides Celia Cruz,

Although I'm poor, all this I give you It is worth more than money because it is love Aunque soy pobre todo esto que te doy Vale más que el dinero porque sí es amor

I think this part of the song because I find this very true in a lot of relationships, you shouldn’t love someone for their money. It’s really about what’s on the inside and if you sincerely love them. ~~ Sosefina Tatola, grade 7
