All’interno del gioco impersonerete Harry Mason alla ricerca della figlia adottiva di sette anni scomparsa nella nebbia della tranquilla cittadina di Silent Hill appunto. Il titolo offre ben cinque finali alternativi di cui uno visibile solo dopo aver completato il gioco come determinate condizioni. Quindi, se siete così messi male da adorare la nebbia — o abitate sopra l’Arno — , Silent Hill è il videogame che fa per voi. P.T. di papà Kojima Distribuito nel 2014, P.T. che sta per Playable Teaser, non è altro che un teaser interattivo in cui un protagonista sconosciuto si risveglia in un corridoio molteplici volte, come in un loop, ma con piccole inquietanti variazioni. It’s an entire generation walking to the sound of a Fender bass. It’s necessary that people be willing to die for music, that is all. People die no matter what, so why not music? Die for it. Isn’t it pretty? To want to die for beauty? (McNeil & McCain, 2006: 45). The 1960’s, from an music aesthetic and expression point of view, were marked by an intense creativity that spread throughout all artistic and cultural mediums. We associate this era with a revolutionary mark, be in cultural, moral or social terms, with the importance of figures such as Rimbaud, north American black blues, rock pioneers, beat generation, Henry Miller, Malraux, Baudelaire, Marcuse, Indian gurus, Marx, Trotsky, Mao Tse Tung… (Paraire, 1992: 75-77). In the USA, rock acquired an institutionalization close to that of the traditional star system, with the role of the English pop movement, in particular that of the Beatles, one of the most remarkable in this respect. Silent Hill: Book of Memories enters new chapter on th November 8 Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has announced the Australian release date for Silent Hill: Book of Memories on PlayStation(R)Vita, as November 8th. Sydney, Australia, Oct 11 - Developed by WayForward, the new game marks the first appearance of the acclaimed horror series on PlayStation(R)Vita. The game also introduces multiplayer elements to the series for the first time, as players work together within the mist-shrouded areas of the titular town. Silent Hill: Book of Memories begins with the player selecting a customisable character. The player then receives a book which, it transpires, has the power to change the past. The action takes the form of a skewed top-down adventure with the emphasis on action and exploration. Players are thus challenged to solve a series of tests and puzzles which rewards them with puzzle pieces that are needed to access the next area. A wide range of Silent Hill elements and adversaries make a welcome return as the player finds out more about the book, and in multiplayer mode players work together in a quest to gather the puzzle pieces and conquer the huge boss creatures which punctuate the gameplay. Silent Hill: Book of Memories also allows users to share Items between characters, including items to restore lost health and to boost endurance. With a soundtrack by Dexter composer Daniel Licht, Silent Hill: Book of Memories opens a new chapter on terror, as players become embroiled in another terrifying visit to KONAMI’s horror series. Doo Right Done Wrong Times & Sounds: Germany's Journey from Jazz and Pop to Krautrock and Beyond, Jan Reetze (536pp, €24.99, hbck, Halvmall Verlag) There are two major problems with Jan Reetze's new book about krautrock. The first is that English is clearly the author's second language and his use of the idiomatic and vernacular is often painful to behold: it's hard to know why he didn't get anyone to read his manuscript through for him. The second, which is more problematic, is that he is a pedantic and dull writer, who loves lists, asides and long-winded contextualisation rather than focussing on the supposed subject of his book. Germany was not alone after World War 2 in reverting to tried and tested national music forms, nor in its population seeking stability and nostalgia as a kind of comfort as society attempted to return to 'normality' and put aside what it had gone through. Nor was it alone in its culture of youth clubs, coffee bars and localised music scenes, nor its familial society; a brief summary of this would have helped trim this oversized volume down. Instead we get descriptions and lists of obscure German bands and pop songs which will mean little to most European readers; the detail on offer does not help us understand the music which readers will have bought this book to find out more about. The USA, of course, was the country swiftest to recover from WW2, and the first to produce a nation of teenagers with disposable income. -

Paíno Historiador y crítico musical Resumen En muchas ocasiones, no somos conscientes de la manera en la que la propia sociedad, representada por medio de los estados y gobiernos, controla, censura y limita la cultura para sus propios intereses. Aunque parezca una actuación ineluctable, realmente está lejos de serlo. Uno de los focos culturales que las clases dirigentes han intentado defenestrar de su campo de efecto a lo largo de la historia ha sido el de la inclusión del ruido dentro de los registros musicales. El objeto de este análisis se fundamenta en delimitar los campos de actuación del término música de cara a la demostración y aceptación de los géneros noise, power electronics, experimental e industrial dentro de él. Desde el principio de los tiempos el ser humano se ha visto necesi- tado de la cultura para poder sobrevivir en el mundo� Bien sabido es que si tuviésemos que vernos obligados a definir al ser humano con una palabra, ésta sería “cultura”� El sistema nervioso de la cultura se fundamenta en el lenguaje. Éste se compone de palabras, y cada una de ellas esconde un significado que hace que cobren vida. La vida de cada palabra no se manifiesta hasta que no entra en uso, hasta que no se sedimenta en los estra- tos sociales� Sin embargo, y como podemos concluir sin demasiada dificultad, la sociedad es un juez prevaricador que actúa siempre mirando en su propio beneficio para alcanzar las metas que mejor se ajustan a sus intereses� De esta diversidad
