Casual Playleader

The Governors of Whinfield Primary School wish to appoint casual playleaers to provide effective support to the school and its pupils.

You will be responsible for assisting with the care and welfare of pupils within the school over the After School period reporting to the Senior Play Leader

The successful applicant will:

• Have good written and verbal communication skills. • Experience of working with a wide range of people. • A clear vision and understanding of the needs of a school. • Have the ability to interpret data and can use the COSHH risk assesments • Be flexible in their approach work well as part of the team • Support the wider aspects of school life e.g. school clubs and events • Have ideas and, very importantly, a good sense of humour

Job Purpose To provide efficient and effective support to the school. Assisting with the care and welfare of pupils during Lunchtime, before and After School.

Main Expectations of the Role

Professional The post holder will be expected to undertake any or all of the following duties and Duties: responsibilities.

1. Supervision of pupils on site in line with individual school policy and procedures

2. Assist with the setting up of lunchtime, before and after School as required

3. Clean up spillages on tables and floors and clear food trays and cutlery away in line with school procedures

4. Encourage children with healthy eating and helping as and when necessary with pupils at mealtimes who may have difficulty or are unable to feed themselves

5. Deal with all injuries ensuring that pupils receive appropriate care and attention when sick or injured. Undertake first aid training as necessary.

6. Interact with children socially, building good interpersonal relationships, initiating and playing learning games.

7. Encourage good behaviour and conduct of all pupils in line with the schools ‘High 5’ behavior policy.

8. The post holder must carry out his/her duties with full regard to the Council’s Equal Opportunities and Racial Equality Policies in the terms of employment and service delivery to ensure that colleagues are treated and services delivered in a fair and consistent manner.

9. To comply with health and safety policy and systems, report any incidents/accidents/hazards and take pro-active approach to health and safety matters in order to protect both yourself and others.

10. Any other duties of a similar nature related to the post, which may be required from time to time.

You are to be responsible for laundering, repair etc. and the School Manger will decide when articles need replacing. In the case of body spillages protective clothing will be supplied.
