THE THORMÄHLEN & COCHRAN TEAM PETER THORMÄHLEN - Director / Outfitter / Professional Hunter Peter was born and raised in South Africa and speaks German, Afrikaans, English and Sotho fluently. After serving 2 years in the military, he graduated with a Masters degree in Soil Science. Due to his passion for hunting, he made it his career in 1994. ANSO THORMÄHLEN - Director / Financial matters & administration Anso was born in South Africa. After completing school, she met Peter at university while studying a degree in accounting. They have been married for 25 years and have 3 children: Liane, Hermann and Heike. Anso’s portfolio includes all the administration, finances, communication, marketing and inquiries of clients and prospective clients of T&C. CAREL ALBERTS - Professional Hunter Peter Thormählen Anso Thormählen Carel Alberts Carel was born in the Western Cape Province of South Africa and soon relocated with his parents to Namibia. His love and interest in nature, and later hunting, was fostered by his dad, a nature conservationist. Carel hunted the entire hunting season with us in Namibia and is a real asset to our Namibian operations. MARIO TINKLER - Professional Hunter Mario was born and raised in the Free State Province of South Africa. He started an apprenticeship with Johan Calitz of Calitz Safaris in 2005. Mario obtained his dangerous game license in 2010 and started hunting big game, especially elephant - in Botswana and Mozambique. After 8 years of service and extensive experience in hunting he joined Thormählen & Cochran Safaris. ABILIU HUHUILEPO - Professional Hunter Abiliu, a Namibian and the father of Ambrosius, has extensive big game hunting experience in Namibia. He is familiar with hunting in the free ranged concessions of Namibia – and is truly a big asset to our team. Mario Tinkler Abiliu Ambrosius Huhuilepo AMBROSIUS HUHUILEPO - Professional Hunter Ambrosius is a Namibian citizen and joined our team end of 2009. He is an ambitious hunter with extensive knowledge of his country, its people and hunting. NELSON NEL - Professional Hunter Nelson was born in Walvisbay, Namibia and spend his childhood days in the Kamanjab and Outjo area. He always had a passion for nature and ten years ago, quit his job to become a professional hunter. LEONARD MUKUARUUZE - Professional Hunter Leonard was raised on the Ehirovipuka Conservancy in Namibia. As part of the community upliftment project, T & C identified Leonard’s potential and he was appointed as a learner hunting guide in 2007. Leonard successfully qualified as a Namibian hunting guide in 2011 and we are very proud to have him in our team. JOHAN VAN ELLINCKHUYZEN - Professional Hunter Nelson Nel Leonard Mukuaruuze Johan van Ellinckhuyzen Johan was raised in the province Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. He started hunting with his dad and loves the bush and outdoors. As professional hunter he free lanced for various outfitters before joining us in 2013. HANNES BASSON - Professional Hunter Hannes is a qualified professional hunter in South Africa for the past 10 years. He has extensive experience in big game and plains game hunting, guided many T & C clients, and is licensed in most of the provinces of South Africa. Hannes is also in charge of the Zimbabwean operation and knows the area very well. ABBY KATJIMUNE - Chef & Camp Manager Abby, a native of Namibia, joined our Namibian operation in 2010. Abby is responsible for managing the camp affairs in the Conservancy and for preparing delicious African cuisine. NAMIBIA Concessions of Thormahlen & Cochran Safaris, Namibia: VISA REQUIREMENTS: All visitors require a valid passport for at least 6 months. NO VISA is required for stays up to 90 days for the European countries, USA, Canada, the Scandinavian countries, South Africa and Australia. Mexican clients do REQUIRE A VISA. FIREARM AND TAXIDERMY INFORMATION:: • A maximum of 100 rounds of ammunition per hunting rifle. • A one-page Import permit document and invitation letter (from Thormählen & Cochran Safaris) are required to bring your firearm into Namibia. • It is legal to import bows for bow-hunting purposes. • 2 Rifles per client allowed. Between 60-80 rounds of ammunition is recommended. • Rifles should be transported in a lockable gun case, and ammunition in a seperate lockable container (part of checked luggage). • Rifles can be rented for the duration of the safari. • T & C recommends Kings Taxidermy (Maritza: [email protected]) for your taxidermy requirements. HUNTING AREA: EHIROVIPUKA CONSERVANCY Ehirovipuka (in native language “place of wildlife”) is owned by the Otjiherero tribe. It is a semi-desert area of 489 267 acres of savannah woodland. At Ehirovipuka you will experience hunting in its purest form: classic tented safari camp, no fences, no development, hard hunting, beauty and free range hunting like ancient Africa years ago.
