A show dedicated to the sounds of the Tango Nuevo, on the borders between fusion and contamination, tradition and innovation, in which the poetic force of music is combined with the talent and virtuosity of the artists. The jazz harmonies and the most refined compositional techniques merge with the fascinating Argentine popular music, creating a perfect combination of past, present and future. An artistic experience in which tango reaches its maximum evolution transformed and revolutionized. The passionate themes and the overwhelming rhythms of the best known masterpieces of the Argentine master are re-proposed and interpreted with the deep melodic sensitivity and the inimitable executive ability of Anna Tifu Tango Quartet, an all-Italian formation made up of four out of class from the international music scene: Anna Tifu, violin; Fabio Furia, bandoneon; Romeo Scaccia, piano; Giovanni Chiaramonte, double bass. Born in Cagliari, she started to play the violin at the age of six under the guidance of her father and to perform in public at eight years old when she won 1st prize with special honors at the Vittorio Veneto concert series. At the age of 11 she made her debut as soloist with the Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire and at 12 years old she performed the Bruch Violin Concerto at La Scala in Milan. At 14 she won first prize at the Viotti Valsesia International Competition as well as in Stresa, where she won the Marcello Abbado International Competition in the same year. She received her Music Diploma in Cagliari at the age of 15 with special honors. She studied with Salvatore Accardo at the Academy Walter Stauffer in Cremona and at the Academy Chigiana of Siena where, in 2004, she obtained the Certificate of Honor. She was supported by the Mozart Gesellschaft Dortmund and at the age of 17, Anna was accepted to the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia where she studied with Aaron Rosand, Shmuel Ashkenzay and Pamela Frank. Later she was awarded a scholarship from the International Music Academy in Cagliari to study in Paris where she received the Diplome Superieur de Concertiste at the Ecole Normale. Anna Tifu has been testimonial for the Italian airline company Alitalia, along with Riccardo Muti, the director Giuseppe Tornatore and the dancer Eleonora Abbagnato. Anna plays the 1716 Antonio Stradivari “Marèchal Berthier” ex Napoleon on loan from the Associazione Canale of Milan. T H E R T I S T S An n i v e r s a r y F A B I O F U R I A Fabio Furia, a world-class concert performer, composer and arranger, is considered to be one the best bandoneonists in Europe. Thanks to his intense concert activity, he performed in the most important concert halls the world over, including Dvorak Hall of Rudolfinum in Prague, the Bozar Theatre in Brussels, Cagliari’s Opera House, the Onassis Cultural Center in Athens, and the Großer Saal in Klagenfürt. Highly regarded internationally, his talent is known to many Italian and foreign music festivals and institutions, including Lubjana Festival, Emilia Romagna Festival, Nancy Festival, “Maggio dei Monumenti” Festival (Naples), “Nei Suoni dei Luoghi” Festival, “Spaziomusica” Festival, “Settimane musicali bresciane” Festival, “Gubbio Summer Festival”, “Floraison Musicales” Festival and “Recontres musicales en Lorraine” Festival. He collaborated with prestigious musicians and ensembles, such as: Anna Tifu, Antony Pay, Michel Michalakakos, Franco Maggio Ormezowski, Anne Gastinel, Stefano Pagliani, Jean Ferrandis, Roberto Cappello, Solisti della Scala, Turner String Quartett, Kodàly String Quartett, Budapest String Orchestra, Daniel Binelli, Juan José Mosalini, Juanjo Mosalini, Victor Hugo Villena, Hiba al Kawas, Salzburg Chamber Soloists, the Kiev Symphony Orchestra, the Baden Baden Symphony Orchestra, Kso Kärtner Sinfonieorchester, the Archimede Quartet, the Wanderer Trio, the Pepicelli Duo. He performed as a soloist in Italy, Canada, Mexico, Croatia, Check Republic, Germany, France, Slovenia, Macedonia, Lithuania, Austria, Spain, Japan, Korea, Greece, Lebanon, and the United States. He started studying piano and classical accordion at the age of 7, first as self- taught and then under the guidance of teacher Eliana Zajec in Trieste. However he owes a large part of his musical formation to Prof. Corrado Rojac, who for some years in adolescence, gives him instrumental lessons, harmony and counterpoint. F A B I O F U R I A T H E R T I S T S An n i v e r s a r y Subsequently, at the age of 16, he studied the clarinet at the Cagliari Music Academy. He then graduated with honours in only four years, under the supervision of Maestro Roberto Gander.He studied further with some of the best clarinetists in the world, including Antony Pay, Alessandro Carbonare, and Wenzel Fuchs. In parallel with the clarinet’s concert career, he undertook the study of unisonoro bandoneon self-taught. Then he decided to approach the bisonoro system, graduating brilliantly at the Paris Gennevilliers conservatory under the guidance of Maestro Juanjo Mosalini. He specialized with some of the best bandoneonists in the world such as, Juan José Mosalini, Daniel Binelli, Juanjo Mosalini, Victor Villena. He is the founder and artistic director of two Cultural Associations, “Anton Stadler” and “ContraMilonga”.
