MEDICAL CAMPUS SELECTION FORM

This form is mandatory for Quebec-resident candidates invited to the virtual MMI and must be uploaded to Minerva checklist item SSMD by the end of the day on Monday, April 19, 2021. The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences offers the MDCM program on two campuses: Montreal, located on the main McGill campus in downtown Montreal, and Outaouais, located at the Gatineau Hospital in the city of Gatineau, Québec. Admissions selection criteria and curriculum for both sites are the same. The Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux du Québec restricts the number of seats for medical programs: 24 in Outaouais and 179 in Montreal. Approximately 15 to 20 seats in Outaouais and 50 seats in Montreal are filled by students promoted admitted via the Med-P program; the remainder are filled by newly admitted candidates entering with a university degree. Campus Outaouais seats are only open to Quebec residents.

This form is your only opportunity to express your choice of campus. This choice is binding, and cannot be changed at a later date during the admission process. Admitted students are not permitted to transfer their registration between the two campuses. However, various elective opportunities on both campuses are available to all MDCM students, and all graduates have the same opportunities to apply to any postgraduate residency, at McGill or other institutions.

Offers of admission are made based on the final rank order list, taking into consideration: a) your choice of campus stated below and b) the available seats at the time of offer.

Waitlist procedures. If you are placed on the waiting list and a seat becomes available in Outaouais, (for example) you will receive the offer if you selected the “Outaouais” or “Either” campus options on this form. If you selected “Either”, but the offer is not for your preferred campus, you are permitted to decline the offer and remain on the waiting list for your preferred campus if you wish to do so. Candidates who accept the offer for their non-preferred campus can also remain on the waitlist for their preferred campus.

The language of instruction for courses in Montreal is English, and the language of instruction for courses in Outaouais is French; no transfers or accommodations will be made for linguistic reasons. Starting in the first year of the program, clinical placements are bilingual in Montreal, and are in French in Outaouais. Candidates who select “Outaouais” or “Either” must be prepared to undertake intensive university-level studies in French in Outaouais as of the first day of the program, and should review the language proficiency information here: https://www.mcgill.ca/medadmissions/applying/requirements/general-requirements/language .
