Isabell Werth and Olympic candidate Emilio surpassed 80-percent mark

World-class performance of the German team at Schindlhof in the Grand Prix Special: and Emilio surpassed the 80-percent mark for the second time in an international tournament by receiving a score of 80.196 (of the five Olympic judges!) and won ahead of Jessica von Bredow-Werndl with Zaire-E (76.02) and Anna Nolte with Pentimento (72.843).

The Manfred Swarovski Challenge Trophy 2016 was won with unbelievable 159.156 (sum of the scores of the Grand Prix and the Grand Prix Special) by Isabell Werth and Emilio, the third horse after the Olympic champions Valegro and Uthopia to be rated with more than 80 percent.

Riders from 9 nations had made it to the final of the top-15 of the Grand Prix Special. Among them, as the only Austrian, hostess Evelyn Haim-Swarovski who remarked critically after her ride, “I made too many mistakes but I am very happy we were among the top-15 in this world-class field of starters. Dorina and I will continue to practice diligently, participate in two or three international tournaments in order to be ready for the National Championships here at Schindlhof, at home, in September.“

The best rider in the world, Isabell Werth, and her 10-year-old Olympic candidate Emilio were ready for big steps. “I am getting to the point where I can fully present him,“ announced the 5-time Olympic champion after her Grand Prix victory with Emilio at Schindlhof.

In fact, the grand dame of dressage presented a perfect tour before the eyes of the Olympic judges Thomas Lang (Austria), Eddy de Wolff van Westerrode (Netherlands), Peter Holler (Germany), Gary Rockwell (United Kingdom), and Annette Fransen-Jacobaeus (Sweden): 80.196 percent! Afterwards, the 12-time German champion Isabell Werth praised her Olympic candidate, “I am more and more pilot than co-pilot and can use the potential of this horse. It’s great to see how Emilio develops from tournament to tournament.“

Now the name Isabell Werth also adorns the star-studded list of winners of the Manfred Swarovski Challenge Trophy. Werth is especially looking forward to the trip to the Irish mansion Artramon Farm, a prize provided by Countess Ulrike von Walderdorff. “I have already heard of it a lot, and I’ll definitely take time for it.“ At the latest, probably, after the in Rio de Janeiro!

The winner is allowed to keep the trophy for one year. She/he is allowed to keep the prize for good after winning the Manfred Swarovski Challenge Trophy with the same horse for three times. In 2014, this was achieved for the first time by Victoria Max-Theurer, now 13-time Austrian national champion.
