Except where otherwise indicated, this thesis is my won work”. Signature Date 2 Abstract This thesis discusses the multiple narratives of Iranian migrants and refugees living in Melbourne, Australia. The narratives are constructed by men and women who left Iran immediately after the 1979 revolution; the Iran – Iraq war; and Iranians who are recent arrivals in Australia. The narratives of the participants are particularly influenced and contextualized by the 1979 revolution, the 1980-1988 Iran – Iraq War and the post 9/11 political framework. It is within these historical contexts, I argue that Iranian experiences of displacement need to be interpreted. These historical periods not only provide the context for the narratives of the participants but it also gives meaning to how they reconstruct their identities and the emotions of their displacement. This thesis also argues that Iranian migrant and refugee narratives are part of a holistic story that is united rather than separated from one another. -

Asst., Selçuk University, Turkey, [email protected] 2 Dr., Selçuk University, Turkey, [email protected] Abstract The purpose of this study is to make a comparative sociological analysis of Iranian and Turkish food cultures in terms of food preparation, distribution and consumption. Moreover, contribution is intended to be made to the field of applied food sociology. The research design carries features of a qualitative research. Of the qualitative research techniques, observation and interview form were used in the study. Research findings were obtained through observations made in Tehran, the capital city of Iran, and data were compiled by making interviews with people selected using the snowball sampling method. According to the results of observations and interviews, food habits in Iran tend to preserve their traditional characteristics. There are similarities rather than differences between Iran and Turkey in terms of eating habits and ways of eating. On the other hand, food culture is highly influenced by the food industry. Industrial food production, branding, packaging and wrapping are at an advanced level. Both Iran and Turkey are undergoing changes in terms of food as in other areas and coming under the influence of modernization. Food production, distribution and consumption systems or eating habits exhibit global trends. Although eating habits display global characteristics, they are always and in all communities based on local roots; in other words, the food culture is never separated from its cultural bonds. -

Understanding the poetic forms is important in order to understand the themes and the styles of the poetry of the poets. All the Persian poets in some points of the time composed in the Rubai form which is very common till now among the past and present generation across Afghanistan. This paper is an overview of Rubai as a classical form of Poetry in Persian Literature. Rubai has its significant role in the society with different stylistic and themes related to the cultural, social, political, and gender based issues. The key features of Rubai are to be eloquent, spontaneous and ingenious. In a Rubai the first part is the introduction which is the first three lines that is the sublime for the fourth line of the poem. It represents the idea if sublet, pithy and clever. Es por este motivo que al hablar del Monumento a la Libertad o Monumento Shahyad, en honor al Sah (el emperador de Irán), que tras la revolución iraní de 1979 cambió de nombre a "Torre Azadi" (en idioma persa, significa Libertad), es uno de los monumentos contemporáneos más desconocidos a nivel mundial, aunque esta construcción está situada en una de las entradas a la capital iraní, por lo que su silueta y los 45 metros de altura la hacen inconfundible, siendo visible desde muchas zonas de la urbe, en especial de noche cuando está completamente iluminada [Fig.1].1 Fig. 1.- Vista de la Torre Azadi Fig. 2.- Retrato Col. The Study on Flood and Debris Flow Supporting Report I (Master Plan) Paper IV in the Caspian Coastal Area Meteo-Hydrology focusing on the Flood-hit Region in Golestan Province CHAPTER 3 HYDROLOGICAL MODELING 3.1 Introduction An integrated and distributed MIKE SHE hydrological model is used to evaluate rainfall-runoff process in the Madarsoo River basin. The model is able to analyze impacts of watershed management practices, land use, soil types, topographic features, flow regulation structures, etc. over the basin on river flows. For this, MIKE SHE model was coupled with MIKE 11 river modeling system to simulate flows in the river system. Inflows and hydrodynamic processes in rivers are taken into consideration for model development. The model computes river flows taking account of overland flow, interflow and base-flow. An integrated and distributed hydrological model MIKE SHE was set up for the Madarsoo River basin for the following reasons: (1) To generate probable or design discharges precisely in the river system to assist on flood control master plan development, (2) To analyze the impacts of watershed management practices and biological measures of flood mitigation by quantifying river flows under these circumstances, and (3) To analyze the impact of incorporation of flood regulation structures like dam in the river system to reduce peak flows. 3.2 MIKE SHE MIKE SHE is an integrated hydrological model because all components of hydrological cycle (precipitation, evapotranspiration, surface flow, infiltration, groundwater flow, etc.) are incorporated into the model. Similarly, and it is also a distributed model because the model can handle spatial and temporal distributions of parameters.
