Near Grahamstown, in South Africa’s malaria-free Eastern Cape province, lies Kwandwe Private Game Reserve.
The nearest major airport is in Port Elizabeth, which lies 160 km (100 miles) from the reserve. There are daily scheduled flights from both Cape Town and Johannesburg international airports to Port Elizabeth, with daily flights to our private airstrip.
The reserve lies approximately 65 km from the coast and is located close to the renowned Garden Route.

- From Cape Town, join the N2 and head east out - From Plettenberg Bay, connect with the N2 and of the Mother City towards Somerset West. travel north-east towards Port Elizabeth. Please - Continue over the mountains and follow the signs note: this is a Toll Road (±R50.50 per vehicle). to Caledon and then to Mossel Bay. - As you arrive in Port Elizabeth, at the - Stay left on the N2 when approaching Mossel Bay roundabout/circle take the third exit onto the N2 and continue to Plettenberg Bay. towards Grahamstown. - Follow Plettenberg Bay directions to the right... - Continue with the instructions for Port Elizabeth...

- From Port Elizabeth travel eastwards along the N2 - From East London travel along the N2 towards towards Grahamstown. King Williams Town and then on to Grahamstown. - Travel past Grahamstown and the Settlers - Before reaching Grahamstown turn right onto the Monument, continuing underneath the flyover. road at the ‘R67 Fort Beaufort’ turn-off. - A few kilometres past Grahamstown turn left onto - *CONTINUE ON (below)… the road at the ‘R67 Fort Beaufort’ turn-off.

- Wind your way through the Ecca Pass for approximately 19 km. On your right you will see a large sign indicating ‘The Great Fish River Reserve’. - Turn left onto the gravel road opposite this sign. There are two smaller signs on the left marked ‘Kwandwe’ and ‘Kranzdrift’. Travel about 5 km to reach the Kwandwe gate, and continue straight for a further 6 km. - The first building on the left is Heatherton Towers Reception area, where you will check-in and leave your car. - You will then be transferred to Great Fish River Lodge, Ecca Lodge, Uplands Homestead, Fort House or Melton Manor, which are between 15 – 30 minutes’ drive away.
