Golf Course played:

Steenberg Golf & Wine Estate: Cape Town Steenberg located in Cape Town is a stunning place to enjoy golf, food and wine of the greatest quality. Steenberg’s featured holes are the 7th and 14th, the 7th has an island type green with sand surrounding it and in the background is the Devils peak mountain which is easily a beautiful distraction. The 14th hole boasts the single biggest green in South Africa which is surrounded by bunkers, if you make the green there is no guarantee of par with the sure mass of the green and its undulating greens.

Royal Cape Golf Club: Cape Town The Royal Cape is over 100 years old is the oldest golf club in South Africa, it’s hosted the SA Open ten times. The course is flat but the fairways are narrow and surrounded by tree lines despite it being flat the coastal conditions almost creates a windy course all year round and a tough challenge, the bunkers are big and a challenge and the numerous water hazards don’t make it any easier. It is arguably South Africa’s most famous club because of its History.

Fancourt Golf & Leisure Resort: George Fancourt embodies a flawless fusion of leisure and world-class golfing. With all three of its golf courses ranked among Golf Digest’s top 20 courses in the country. Fancourt’s golf courses were designed by a dynamic team spearheaded by Gary Player and the estate’s owner, Dr Hasso Plattner. Recently voted among the World’s 10 Best Golf Resorts on CNNGo, Fancourt has supplemented its courses with its own Golf Academy, practice facilities and every modern convenience, allowing golfers to immerse themselves in the five-star Fancourt experience.

Humewood Golf Course: Port Elizabeth Found in the coastal city of Port Elizabeth, the golf course is a genuine seaside links, with wide and undulating fairways, fast greens and thick coastal bush. A round is a must for any golfer visiting the 'Friendly City' of Port Elizabeth. Over the last 25 years, 4 of the par 5's have been redesigned to par 4's (ie. the 4th, 8th, 10th and 13th) and are now regarded amongst the most challenging in South Africa.

Information on South African Golf Tourism: South Africa is currently ranked 14th in terms of the world’s most popular golfing destinations, while the only African country to make it into the Top 10 list was Morocco. The opportunity to package golf with other experiences is something that also sets SA apart, for example combining golf with a safari, sightseeing, cultural tours, wine and food, as well as the abundant landscape variations ranging from forest, mountains, pristine coastline to wildlife regions. Safari game drives for family and groups tours are very popular, as well as spa and wellness treatments for women which is a sought after combination at the moment. Golf groups tend to range between 4 and 12 individuals, and length of stay between 10 and 14 days. Another key factor is SA’s favourable exchange rate, which allows for excellent value for money when compared with competitor destinations. Where else can you play golf with wild animals roaming on the golf course?
